Can you use Adams all purpose cleaner to remove bugs and tar?

Can you use Adams all purpose cleaner to remove bugs and tar from the paint, or can it cause damage? If you can use it, should you dilute it or use it at regular strength. Will it strip the wax or is it safe to use it and not have re wax that area? Last.. whats the best way to use it, spray and let it sit a few minutes or start to scrub right away? Thanks for any help in advance.

Yes, you can use APC as a bug treatment prior to washing. I generally recommend a dilution of 1:1 for that use, seems to be strong enough to get the job done in most cases. Just don't spray it on the paint while its hot, and don't let it dry. This generally rules out using it if you're in full sunlight.

You will need to rewax any areas that you use it on as if its strong enough to start to break up bugs its strong enough to strip wax.
  • Use a strong stream from the hose to knock as much of the critters lose as you can.
  • Spray APC directly onto the areas where the bugs are stuck.
  • Go about washing as usual. The soap will help neutralize the cleaner.
  • Use a separate mit or towel for the front end so you don't end up with crispy bits in your wash pad.
