best buffer to buy

i want a dewalt 7" 1000rpm-3000rpm. if i get it is there some paste polish that will give me the last bit of perfection i have been chasing while sanding my flowmaster AT stainless pipes? i will already have about 12 hours in this and at 2500grit (wet) they gleam pretty good. but a couple mor hours with a dewalt polisher would probably do it.

any thoughts?

i will then use the polisher to practice on the DD's and such

Just get the pc7424xp. That way you can detail your cars too. I got a cheap crappy one that is worthless and I am returning it tomorrow and ordering the PC7424xp.

This is a list of polishers I suggest

DA Polishers

Porter Cable 7424xp
Mequires G110v2
Flex XC 3401
Griots Garage 6 Inch Random

or if you have some experience and want a good rotary and not dual action then I would suggest

Makita 9227C
FLEX PE14-2-150
DeWalt 849

Honestly I have never polished with a DA or a rotary. I have always either done it by hand or on a bench grinder with a buffing wheel.

As far as polishes go my favorite will be English custom polish, followed by Optimum Metal polish, wenol, and flitz.

Also I normally use just #0000 steel wool and polish by hand.

Don't get the Flex Rotary. While the lightweight of the unit is nice I hate the fact that it can not run below 1100 rpms for speed, there are times and applications where you need a low rpm speed. The Makita 9227C is a proven durable piece and I would highly suggest it.

The flex I just listed is their new rotary and will go down to 600rpms just like the makita. FYI

I have wet sanded with 2500g. i just found some 0000 steel wool at Lowes. will that do better than 2500g?

Being that you have gone from 2500 grit, I would go into a polishing compound like the ones I have listed above.

Also go over to this link and have a read.
