Dealers playing games...

Ok boys and gals...

It's starting- dealers are getting creative...

NOTE THAT MY POSITION ON WHAT IS BELOW IS

These are from other threads and DO NOT reflect my dealer...

"My dealer says I'll be the first person with the option to buy what I ordered"...

"My dealer just called and cyber grey is no longer available..."

"My dealer got in trouble for selling cars at MSRP..."

Post your horror stories as they come in...

EDIT-> My purpose for this thread was to see what dealers are starting to change now that production is almost upon us, NOT how they attempted to screw people over months ago.

I've got a few that came from local dealers I called but didn't order from.

classic - 1500 over for previous customers and 2500 for new customers.

fischer (titusville) - 2500 over for "environmental wrap" and 5000 over for "everything (paint protection and other bs)". I asked if I could get it without the crap and they said no, at least 2500 over MSRP

bob steele - said that gm couldn't guarantee that customers would get what they want so they're ordering lot cars and going to let people come in and test drive, etc. Sounds like they're trying to sell em to the highest bidder.

don mealey - no guide number, just putting in orders. Said no dealer knows how many they're going to get. I told him that he was wrong and other dealers as well as the internet disagrees. I'm sure they're just trying to order as many as they can.

I think these dealers would rather people order cars they can get quicker to close the sale quicker. Cash flow is becoming a real problem for dealers.

Originally Paddock. To make a long story short, I found I was eligible for GSU, they said they wouldn't honor it (later said they would only when I canceled), so I moved to Joe Basil Chevrolet.

You don't and dealer "fees" are generally unless they include ttl or at least _tl or sometimes an "acquisition fee" for writing a lease deal.

One local Chevy dealer told me the SS would be in the mid 40's if I bought from them.

I hear all of these horror stories and am so lucky that the 2nd dealer I contacted said MSRP...guaranteed with $500 deposit, which he then waived because I showed up in my Army uniform.... Not only that, but he's been in constant contact with me about constraints, (I have two with CGM and the STS), emails, and just general conversation.

Notice how I said "2nd". The first dealer that I called wanted $1500 over MSRP and 1/3 deposit to order and I thought THAT was crazy. You guys need to move to Oregon!!!

First dealer I talked to said I can order but I'd be #30 of 29 allocations...he wanted $5K over MSRP to even be in that spot!

Second dealer said half down before they'd take my order!

Last dealer (the one I went with) started at $5K over MSRP but I got them to MSRP and only $1K down.

It's been a tough road to say the least! And for anyone to wonder why the Big 3 are hurting...just go buy a new car and you'll see pretty quick!

E-mail GM about the CGM and wait for a response, and if it's still available, but delayed, take the e-mail with you, and teach your dealer how to run a business. If he's still a jerk about it, than report him to GM, they don't need those kind of people.

paint sealant is a waste of money, the car comes with a paint sealant.... its called a clear coat.

all it really is is a wax coating put on over the paint and buffed out. most all new cars are built with rust-resistant galvanized steel (or aluminum or fiberglass) and treated with a rustproofing agent at the factory. dealer-applied rustproofing is unnecessary, at best. Paint ’sealant’ is a similar story: Factory paint is sealed and durable and can be protected effectively with a coat of wax you apply yourself. tell your dealer he can keep his paint sealant and then go wax your car after you drive off the lot.

Yeah GM needs a better way of handling this. I know they'll give me some song and dance about how they can't control what dealers do but they sure can get them by the balls when it comes to allocations on cars and things like that. They should have a way of dealing with this bull shit!

Hope Joe Basil gives you a better deal btw! I go to the buffalo area all the time and used to live there (granparents and other family memebers still live there though)

When I asked about ordering a Camaro SS at MSRP, Rancho Valley Chevrolet in Pomona, CA first told me all Camaro production was delayed until May because of a supplier issue with interior materials. When I persisted about an SS at MSRP, they hemmed and hawed, stating 'many factors go into pricing' and only quoted a range from $26K to $45K.

This crap is the exact reason I didn't buy a Shelby Mustang while I waited for the Camaro. Now the Ford dealer down the street has these cars that he can't sell. My Chevy dealer was MSRP with a $1000 down. I'm 2 on his order with the #1 SS.

I understand that dealers need to make money when they can
no one will pay any real profit for anything else they are selling
I was able to buy one at MSRP but I spoke with 12 dealers before I found one that had not already taken too many orders or wanted $2500 to $5,000 over
The real problem we all have is the crappy communication
we would all be happier if the would just keep us up to date and tell us the truth
Then we would not mind paying them MSRP
The dealer I found has done a great job unfortunately he is in the minority, to bad

Remember, car dealers are a dime a dozen, like many other professions & companies in life. Deal with those who will treat you with respect as a human being and not just another sale on the flow chart. It is being said that if GM dealers are to compete with import dealers, they really need to change their ways of customer service, and that includes BEYOND THE SALE.
For those dealers have been going beyond the call of duty, all along, I only have one thing to say to you... BRAVO

Me too....my local Ford dealer (Russ Milne Chesterfield Twp, MI) had GT500s in stock and would'nt even give me a price. He said to go to EBay to bid on them. I told the salesman to F### off and walked out the door and swore I would never again buy a Ford as long as I live. I'm glad now....I'd much rather have the Camaro I'll finally be getting in the next month. I laugh at him with his 2 year old Mustang GT convertibles still on his lot, and his GT500s everytime I drive by.....
