Painted my coil packs

Not a bad way to spend three hours on a Saturday.

Remove coil packs

Prep

High temp Dupli-color Chevy Orange (or color of your choice)

Three coats

Avoid the wife for the rest of the day

Enjoy!

Very long. I used the same paint (different color) on my GTO. Three years later it looked exactly the same. I actually want it to fade a little.

Did you just clean and tape them for prep or did you have to scuff them up a little?

Why didn't you do red to match the rails and intake lettering?

No scuffing. Although it wouldn't hurt. I just sprayed a little engine degreaser on them, and wiped them down.

Believe me I was hearing about it for two hours. Got the hose out and a scuffing pad with some soapy water. Got it all off in about 20 minutes.

The rails are more of a maroon color. I did buy red at first but the color was so way off I figured what the heck I'll try something totally different.

Thanks! It's my $6.19 mod. I think I spent enough money on this car already.

Looks great... I might do something like that since I ditched my silly engine cover the first week...

Looks really good. Makes me want to ditch the engine cover do this. I have the same paint laying around at home, maybe I will give this a try.

Nice Mod. Are the coil packs easy to remove and put back on?

Very easy. Just unclip the top, pull the bottom off and remove two bolts holding each one. Just make sure everything is put back on nice and tight. I forgot to clip one of them back on and my CEL came on. Popped the hood saw one of the clips dangling. Snapped it back on and CEL went off.
