Anyone have aL99 with 4.11s?

just wanted to see if anyone had put 4.11 in there L99. Thinking it might be too much and just wanted to get an idea of how they feel.

Depends on how you use your car. Most of our A6 customers go with 3.73s. 4.11s are a kick in the rear end but take you from a just under 1800 RPM at 70 MPH to about 2300 RPM. 3.73s wil give you an equivalent torque gain of approximately 15% or 61.5 rear wheel lb.-ft. of torque and you cruise at 2050 RPM at 70 MPH.

Yup, and they were bad ass. I had to take them out because at the track with over 700 rwhp they were to much. But from 550 rwhp and below that make the car evil. Passing on the highway was insane!! Go for it.

It's not that you'll break anymore stuff with the 4.11's vs the 3.27's. It's the shifting that's the tricky part. At 660 rwhp my car was in 2nd before the 60' mark.

Most will agree that 4:11s are too aggressive for the L99 A6. The A6 has a very aggressive 1st gear. With 4:11s, 1st gear will become practically useless.

You already have to shift out of 1st gear by 35 mph or so.

I only know of a few guys that put 4:10s in their A6. They have all since dropped back down to something less aggressive.

I would do a converter if you're looking for more power off the line. I've got an FTI 3200 and the off the line power is ridiculous (too much for the street to be honest). I'd recommend a 2800 for a daily driver. A higher stall makes your car feel and drive like it makes a lot more power.

As I mentioned earlier though, with an auto, the penalty is so minor as it is almost continuous power delivery. I can see this being a small issue with aggressive exhausts, as more rpm can make more noise.
I wish I could drive a car with 3.73's and one with 4.11's to see the difference. I bet the gears would eliminate the need for a converter altogether. I really think that these gears would be excellent for cars with a cam or heads/cam. I only plan to make 400-450whp with mine for the time being, and I always remember the results of putting 4.56's in my 79 z instead of a converter. The car was an absolute riot.
I'm going to start buying Pfadt parts for the diff install, then decide on gears a little later.
