Being a cop in Detroit, I see this shit every day...Kid was wearing a $900 jacket, according to my partner who is up on the fashions of the street. He was buying crap at a party store with a "Bridge Card" (MI equivalent to welfare).

Pulled a woman over a few weeks ago for speeding..46/25 school zone. Pulls out her registration..her Bridge (welfare) card stuck to back..Both in her name..What was she driving? A 2006 Land Rover.

WTF!

I agreed 100%. Also all welfare recipients should mandatory do community service like cleaning parks, fixing broken down homes, taking care of the elderly.

Got this e-Mail about a year ago. Or one just like it in a different format. I agree. I would bet that the cost of the urine tests would easily be paid with the savings.

Agreed.

When a mom on welfare can't pay $5 for her son to see a doctor but is able to afford the calling plan for her brand new cell phone as well as make payments on her brand new Escalade, you know there's a problem.

I couldn't agree more.

Or at least offer a reward for turning in welfare cheats.

I AGREE 100% on this.

If we all agree, why the heck don't they start doing it? The money saved would pay for all of the drug test.

I disagree... there should be fewer laws, not more.
They should do away with welfare and let the Church's take over... it's shouldn't be the government's responsibility.

I almost agreed and then I thought of my Mom. She wants to work. Shes worked on and off for the last several years. She looks for work everywhere. But she works in the auto industry and now she's laid off again. :(

She's not on welfare, but I worry about things around this state. It's not good.

There are always exceptions to every rule...Widows, elderly, children, disabled deserve a break. Lots of folks that want to work are in a bind right now also, thing is to find the deadbeats and get them out of the system.

There is too much common sense and logic in your idea! No politician or other government official would ever sign off on it.
