"value" of transformers edition? Worth destroying or replacing?

I have the attention span of a goldfish when it comes to cars. I've owned 28 cars in the last 8 years. I've never owned a car as long as this camaro because I love it so dearly (I've had it almost 2 years now).

I'm one of those gawdy guys that most people on here can't stand... However, I am at a point where I must make a choice sooner than I anticipated.

I got sideswiped, and I have two options:
1. Fix the damaged parts, and sell the Transformers edition car and buy either a ZL-1, a corvette, or buy a new DD but then get a second 1SS and dump 25k into ricey bodywork, a supercharger and suspension upgrades.
2. Keep the car I have but scrap the transformers component. Cover up/replace damaged parts with a widebody kit and body kit, and keep kicking Chevy in the gut for not fixing my warranty issues (my engine and transmission both suck), but eventually throw in the supercharger. Buy a C5 corvette on the side for now until I get the warranty crap worked out. Scrapping the transformers kit will include removal of decals and the logo/etc.

I guess the big question is that the transformers edition was fun and all for 2 years, but will anyone care in a few years? Am I doing the camaro community a dis-service by scrapping the transformer edition heart and soul? should I preserve the transformers edition camaro and repair it to it's former glory, reselling it and moving on with my expensive hobby of buying cars? Or is the transformers edition just a stupid ploy to make people like me spend more on it, and removal of the transformer-esqueness doesnt matter?

I'd look up

A) The value of a restored Transformers Edition with whatever your miles/mods are.
B) The likelihood that you can get whatever your engine/trans issues are replaced by GM.

Then I'd go from there. It sounds like you got a lemon, sad to say, and you don't seem too happy with it.

Well I say restore it and then sell it if you don't want it anymore. They are special. I would hate to see Bumble Bee neutered. In the end it's still your car to do with as you please. But killing Bee would make me

IMO it's your car, cut it up if you like and mod the whole body ... Plus it will make for one less LS3 T.E. Camaro ...

Tough choices:

1) Spend money

2) Spend money

Must be hard to only have those 2 options... Honestly, do what you want. If you don't mind the car being repaired and like it since it was your original 2010 Transformers edition, fix it and keep it. If you don't want a repaired car, fix it and sell it to get what you want.

I don't see the Transformers addition as being that collectible. If there was some kind of substantial upgrade to the car, then maybe it might be worth it, but isn't the Transformers edition just a few decal and trim pieces?

If you like the package, fix it. If you don't care, it probably isn't worth it, and since it is just decals and trim, it can always be changed back again if you change your mind.

As far as cars becoming collectible, if you look at the time line, it usually takes about thirty years or more to be worth collecting. Most people collecting '69 Camaros wanted one when they 16 or 17 years old in '69. So if you want to hold on to it that long more power to you.

The value of any special edition is determined if you have a buyer who wants it. What makes a pace car so valuable? Because it ran around a track of some race that people can't remember. Transformers has been around for over 20 years, and the new movies made our car famous. Do you really think that they will stop making these movies, they make money and people love to watch them. How many movies did they make for Star Wars? And nobody forgot those movies. Billions of dollars were made from Star Wars. I can't wait to see Transformers 3. Its your car, I would fix it and keep it and keep turning heads when you drive it.

Everyone has an opinion, and the only person who can make it happen is you.

I already do!!! My roommate! She drives a 2011 camaro! So that would make 3.... like I don't get enough looks already when people drive by my house and see two camaros parked outside... (although the bee is normally in the garage...)

I love the camaro... I dont love MY camaro. Almost on transmission number 3 and engine number 2, all while still being on tires number 1? so obviously I can't be beating it too bad... I got my 2nd transmission put in at 1300 miles, and by 1500 miles I was having the same issue again. brought it to the dealer and they said just wait for it to break again... Although I can't shift into 3rd gear 1/2 the time, It still hasn't broken yet. It's sad though when you won't drive your 2010 car because you think it might break down, so you go grab your 1998 truck with 125k miles because its more reliable... haha!

Did I mention I go through over 2 quarts of oil an oil change??? I have to pour oil into it every few weeks.

2 years later I'm at 20k miles... Enough ranting though, sorry!

I think your right on. I'm going to go put my attention on GM right now. If I can't get them to fix it then its a moot point, and I should just sell it and buy a new one/ZL1/something similar. If I can get them to fix it finally, maybe I'llput the money I've been saving up for 2 years into it! although seriously, I've saved up 40k and bought the camaro outright in cash... 2010 2SS with 20K as a trade in + the 40k should easily get me a ZL1, right? oh how I can't wait to see pricing...

Thanks everyone for their .02s. I know it is MY decision, but I'm not a genius, nor do I have the solutions to all the world problems, so I appreciate hearing other peoples thoughts and ideas!

Seems like you could care less about turning heads with the T.E. and if you dont love YOUR car then why keep it. My suggestion is repair, sell, buy ZL1!! I'm sure there is a die hard Transformer fan out there who hasnt been able to nail down a T.E. Camaro yet.

Fix it up, and sell it. The fact that you are willing to ruin the transformers package means you dont appreciate it as much as someone else might. Not saying you dont appreciate the car...

The ZL1 will be worth much more in 10 years than a Transformer's edition. Just saying

Get a zl1.

But on the other hand, if my opinion was that the engine and trans both sucked like you stated it is for you, I would be looking at another car company and not pouring more money into the existing one.

Do you even like your car?

I love my car, I just have so many problems its hard to... I mean seriously, being stranded out of state on christmas eve with only 1300 miles on my car??? then not being able to shift into third gear ever again? how can anyone love that? oh yeah, and carrying extra oil because I burn through it so fast??? Did I mention my fan squeals and my heated seats don't work? they must have been drunk working on it, seriously...

Other than those, I LOVE it. I WISH I could modify it but it feels like its on it's last leg. Its the one car I've loved more than any other i've ever owned.... if only I wasn't having these warranty issues I would have began modifying it when I bought it!
