Took me 7 hours to install SLP Underdrive Pulley

Overall I am very happy with the mod. I make four mistakes during the modification.

First mistake: I tried to use a regular socket to remove a bolt that was torqued in to 240lbs torq. I didn't have a deep impact socket so the regular socket kept slipping off. Quick trip to auto parts store fixed that.

Second mistake: I tried to remove the above bolt with a 15 inch breaker bar. And thats what I did, I broke the bar. Quick trip to hardware store to buy a 4 ft iron pole (to slide over the socket wrench) fixed that.

Third mistake: I tried to affix the 3 jaw puller to the outer side of the inner wall of the stock pulley. After taking a break to think it over and really look at the stock pulley I noticed there are three grooves behind the pulley. Once found it came right out.

Fourth mistake: I thought I could put the new SLP Underdrive Pulley in with the old stock bolt. Trip to home depot to buy a 12 inch rod (that I had to cut down to 9 inches with the dremel) a few bolts and washers and I was able to det the new Underdrive Pulley into place.

Overall had I paid a little better attention to the instructions I could have done it faster.

I guess its just equity in the school of life. Pics attached.

General rule of thumb for doing car mods yourself --- Things will never go as planned! At least you had the intelligence to figure out what you needed to do and finish it right!

Whenever they tell me it will take x amount of time to install, I usually double that for me. Was it hard to get the new AC belt on ?

But I usually take forever because I work slow. "Measure twice, cut once"

I have one of these and thought the install was supposed to be simple.

It was hard until I took the car out of 4th gear and used a socket to turn the balancer bolt to guide it on. Two things not mentioned in the instructions or on the board.

SLP claims 9.5. Not sure what the number is but all the mods add up. I plan to get a tune next so that should help get the most out of the mods.

This is my 4th DIY mod and 2 went perfect. The only other hiccup was the horn bolt (in the way) when I installed the ADM scoop.

A harmonic balancer is never really something I recommend doing just to do. It is ALOT of hassle for most shadetree mechanics to do on their own..and the gain is not worth the pain. The balancer is best done when doing a cam because you have to take it off anyway.

all I can say is you had the ability to think it through and it's done. If it's what you wanted it doesn't matter if it only gives you 1 hp, it's your mod.

Great job!

I want to thank Maryland Speed for giving this shadetree mechanic a great price and a very quick shipment.

The juice was worth the squeeze.
