P.C.V GROMMET...ELBOW SHAPED

Help me out guys.....I have a 2002 Z-28 cam. Here is the problem....under the hood where the pcv valve is there is a little rubber hose that connects from it to the intake....it's a weird looking 90 degree angle looking rubber tube.
Ok the problem is no one sales this item....I have tried Autozone,Oreilly's....they do not sale this 1 1/2 inch rubber hose and I just contacted the dealship that is close to me and they do not sale just the one piece they sale the whole thing including the pcv valve itself...hoses and the 1 little hose I need for.....$111.00 bucks!!! I nearly hit the floor.....no way am I paying that...one guy reccomended I try the junk yard but when I went to 2 they both were closed....what junk yards are closed on the weekends!! Anyways I live in the Ft.Worth Texas area if anyone could point me in the right direction or a website I could get this item I would appreciate it. Thanks Guys!!

Looking at mine, all you need to do is break out a ruler, measure the diameter of the hose, go to the parts house, buy some bulk rubber hose, cut to length, drink a beer. If its not the piece the pcv valve sits in and its the one right off of the intake, there is nothing special about it, just spend $.50 and put something on that fits.

I would say just buy some 1/2 (if that is the correct measurement) heater hose and cut to fit.

No problem. It is getting harder to find replacement parts for 4th gen F-bodies. In fact not too long ago I had to replace an intermediate shaft in an 01 Trans Am, and my parts guy told me GM/ACDelco didn't carry the part number anymore. We had to get it used from an aftermarket place.

Man Bowtie that sucks....yea I am hearing it is harder to find replacement parts for the 4th gen...I hate that. I bought my Cam z-28 back in 02 when all it had was 3 miles on it....good days....the car has never given me any problems...I love my car and would hate to part with it. I am just holding on for as long as I can...my dream is to have a 4th gen and 5th gen in the garage....I would trade my 4th gen though for a 1st gen...preferably a 69 SS...a man can dream can't he.....LOL!!!

Depressing, isn't it...especially for those who can't exactly afford a fifth gen, and who love the fourth gen F-Bodies!

Oh well...

I am looking forward to gettign a 5th gen...just not right now....my 4th gen has been paid off for some time now and I love having the extra money....plus I get to upgrade some stuff on my 4th gen which I still get compliments about. I am going to TRY and give it another 2 years before I get another one. Sure is hard though to hold out when I will be seeing them on the road.

How do you think it is on our 5th gens. It doesn't look spacious at all...

Thanks CamaroSpike for the offer, I will let you know once I start to add some more stuff to the Cam....right now I have just done the small stuff.....Catback Exhaust and a lid so far....I work alot of hours now and plus the weekends so it's hard to find time to do everything I want....next thing my Cam needs right now are gaskets for the manifold...I bought them, just haven't had a chance to put them on.

What year is your 3rd gen cam vette? 4th gens are by far the most challenging....the engine space is very small....I can changed out the spark plugs but it's just the last 2 on the passenger side I can never get too....I actually have to take it up to a friend of mine and have them take the compressor out and change just the one...man it sucks....then plus they have to fill it back up again....Costs me about $75.00 for the one spark plug.....what a beating!

As far as the 5th gens go....you know I can look at all the pictures but until I actually am under the hood of the car I won't be able to make a assessment of the engine bay.

I had an 86' IROC. I loved that car. When me and my brother put a new cam in it I can remember him actually being able to sit in the engine compartment while he was working on it. It was funny, gobs of space under there.

Yeah, I hope they understand someday. I would love to see more chicks get into the industry. We just won't be happy until we can fill our garage with cars.

actually, it does look spacious compared to 4th gens. remember my "need engine bay pics" thread? LT headers are going to be a breeze on this car (compared to 4th gens) granted there is a lot of stuff in the engine bay, but the engine isnt sitting halfway under the dash like before either.

the last two, most times you have to pull the starter out and go from underneath to get out.

Yea when we were pulling the engine in my 1983 Trans Am, once the radiator and shroud was out i just perched myself on the front clip/support while I was dismantling it further. I do love it.

CamSpike have you changed those last 2 plugs out before? I assume you have. How long did it take you from bang to boom?

Man Bowtie the only thing I can do in the engine bay for my 4th gen is lay across it...LOL!!

QFT. We had to take out an LS1 from an '01 Trans Am awhile ago (incidentally the same one that needed the I-shaft, but this was last October). I got intimately familiar with its engine bay. Thankfully I'm about 6'1", so we deflated the front tires and I didn't have to lay across the whole thing.

The guys who owns that car has more sense than money, and keeps bringing it back for all kinds of stupid shit. The dumbass sprayed off the engine's topside multiple times with soapy water. Any of you with experience on the LS1 know exactly how stupid that is.

yes, changed them quite a few times. let me tell you... long tube headers make it easier. its still a pain, but you have more room with LT's. last time I changed mine, it took about 15-20 mins. and part of that was inspecting my old plugs and regapping the new ones. but I've also done it about 24395873445387250798063423 times on my car and numerous others. and you learn how to change them quickly.... when the engine is still piping hot....

as for the laying across the engine....

we call that the "superman plug change"

ive sprayed plenty of LS1s down with soapy water.... LT1's on the other hand....

I pressure wash my opti to teach it who's boss.

one thing ive started doing... and this is me, and my car is far from what most would consider "streetable" is to pull all unneccessary equipment from the engine bay. AIR pump, EGR, AC (workin on it), working on converting to a manual rack to eliminate the power steering, etc

tho mine is not as radical as this.... its called the Everything Delete. lol
