We now have another choice for 1:18 & 1:24 Scale Diecast Camaro Models!
Besides Jada, Maisto now makes the 2010 Camaro SS in both 1:18 & 1:24 scales.
Colors (1:18 Scale): Burgundy & Yellow/Black Rally Stripes. Pictures: http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-CHEVY-CAMAR...item53e816c0c8 http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-CHEVY-CAMAR...item2565186a0b From what I can readily see, the Maisto model has a shark fin antenna on the roof, a more detailed inner trunk, same size wheels/tires all round, larger front seats, windshield wipers that point in the correct direction and more detailed window pieces. The biggest improvement over the Jada model is a more correct roof line shape in regards to the slope of the A-pillars. Another improvement are the brake calipers and rotors. Plus, the front wheels are steerable! (I'm not sure if the steering wheel is functional though) I have just ordered 2 models. I'll post up better pictures after they arrive. (unless someone that may already have one is willing to do so sooner)

Great Find, finally a 2010 Camaro in RJT, now only if it had CGM Rally Stripes and was a 2LT/RS it would be Perfect. It is close enough so I will get one to add to my collection also.

THANK YOU MAISTO!!!!!
I've always hated the wheels/tires of JADA. I will never buy JADA. Chevrolet really should've gone with a better diecast model manufacturer for their contract. Hell, Hot Wheels would've been a better choice than JADA.And thank you VChula for finding these! I ordered one just now ![]() Now, if only Kyosho or Autoart would come out with their own detailed version of the 5th Gen, I'd be all over it. I don't care if they're more expensive, you get what you pay for

Don't want to hijack the thread but do you guys that are collecting die cast have any idea of a place to buy one of the large 10th scale that Jada had out back in 2009. Had a chance to buy one when I was in wally world back then past it up and never had another chance. Shoot me a pm if you have an idea. Thanks!

Apologies in advance for the long post
Here is a little review and pictures of the new Maisto 1:18 scale 2010 Camaro SS RS models I received today.
Overall, this new Maisto model is much better than the Jada model, but not without it’s own issues. Issues (some no doubt quite nit-picky): 1. The paint finish is a candy dark red and is horribly applied. There are runs and pigment pools on all edges and seams. The paint is also way too thick and dulls some of the sharp body lines on the 5th Generation Camaro. 2. The window trim paint is horribly masked. On one door, it goes way out side of the trim boundary line. 3. The outer rear tail lights are not correctly shaped. They are basically a mirror image of the inner tail light shape. 4. The rear license plate is just a frame-less sticker and was misaligned on one of the models. 5. The GM chicklet logo on the front fenders is way over-sized (but I give them credit for trying). 6. Although the car has red SS badges and is advertised as a SS RS on the model box, the front headlight background is painted silver (no halo rings). 7. The steering wheel looks horrible. Too coarsely textured, not the correct grip profile and a flat front center, with a misaligned decal. 8. Overly coarse textured seats, dashboard, and door panels. Points given for the simulated seat center section perforation patterns though. 9. Interior rear quarter panels are nowhere near correct, but do have 2 removable seat belts attached to each panel. What the Maisto model has that the Jada model doesn’t: 1. The most correct body shape that I have ever seen on any generation Camaro model – Diecast, plastic, or whatever. Period. What this model has over the Jada is a properly slanted front window A-pillar area. The Jada model is too far raked back. 2. An almost correctly shaped shark fin antenna. This is a separate vinyl piece, which will expose a pocket area in the roof if you decide to remove it. 3. Perfect fitment of the metal body parts, with minimal gaps. To open the hood, it is best to turn the car upside down to let the hood fall open! The body casting incorporates the front and rear bumpers and the rocker panels. Fitment and finish of the front and rear bumpers on the Jada models left a lot to be desired. 4. Doors that will stay closed and remain flush with the body. This is because of a clever flat spring design that holds the doors to the body. In fact, that doors are fastened to the body with just this spring (the spring plate is riveted to the door). 5. A molded in B-pillar. 6. More true to life painted window glass border edges, albeit in matte black. These should be glossy. 7. Very nicely done chrome/black “Chevrolet” door sill plate stickers. 8. An accurate rear window package shelf panel, complete with speakers and the center brake light pocket. 9. A parking brake lever. 10. SS logo decals on the front seat headrests. 11. Properly shaped foot pedals for manual transmission cars. 12. Molded-in dash center vent adjustment knobs. 13. Much better speedometer and tachometer gauges, including the DIC. In fact, this is all combined on a single sticker, which adversely affects the shape of the speedometer and tachometer bezels. 14. In the engine bay, there are decals for the radiator cap, windshield washer reservoir cap, brake fluid reservoir cap, radiator warning information and the GM Performance Division plate that was used on the early 2010 model SS cars (a nice touch). 15. Rims and tires that appear to be the correct scale for the model, but are not staggered in width. The rims also have a molded-in Chevrolet bowtie center cap logo. 16. Molded-in metal under-hood and under-trunk insulator pads, albeit body color. 17. A correct appearing trunk bay area, complete with the small opening space and molded-in metal sealing gasket. 18. Front wheels that steer – with the steering wheel. 19. Coil spring suspension on all four wheels. 20. An overhead console piece that has the sun visors, interior dome light and rear view mirror (although the mirror is not correctly shaped). 21. Brake calipers and discs that are properly situated within the wheels and don’t go off-kilter when the model is tilted. 22. Windshield wipers that look correct and are not molded into the windshield header. The wipers are vinyl and molded together as one piece. The piece plugs into holes in the front windshield glass. 23. The correct shape stock mufflers, although in a chrome finish. 24. A rear differential housing that is correctly shaped. The Jada model had what could be construed as “the Great Pumpkin”. 25. On the driver’s side door handle, there is a door key lock. This would be easy to detail using silver paint. What the Jada model has that the Maisto model does not: 1. Crisper body lines. 2. Correctly shaped rocker panels. 3. A much better steering wheel, although without the silver outlines on the wheel spokes. 4. Correctly defined rear seats. This is important if one decides to paint the center sections to much their car. The Maisto rear seat is quite lacking in this area. 5. Crisper lines on the front and rear bumpers. 6. Better center console 4-pack gauge cluster shape. The 4-pack gauge cluster on the Maisto is too vertically stacked. This makes it appear set back too far into the console. At least there are gauge face decals on the Maisto, but only the top row is properly placed. The bottom row gauge faces are actually resting on the top surface of the bottom row gauge bezels! 7. Accurately defined fog light bezels. There is no definition on the Maisto. 8. Better hood and trunk hinge placement. The ones on the Maisto are too close together, with the hood hinges also being too thick. Side by side, the Jada model is definitely larger. Will I be painting one in Aqua Blue? Yes, I believe I will!

An even better choice for 1:18 Scale models:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-18-CSM-Che...item3cca6216fb This one appears to blow away the current offerings from Maisto & Jada. I ordered one in each color and will post a review when after they arrive. (I didn't pay the price in above the E-Bay link)

Yes, I received a yellow and a black one.
Although they are extremely detailed, the workmanship is not that good. Judging by all of the finger prints embedded in the paint, these are assembled using quite a bit of super glue. The black model was especially horrible. The doors do not match the body in color. There were many burnish marks in the paint that are simply not repairable. The yellow one was much better, but also has burnishes in the paint. The site I bought them from asked for feedback (like eBay). I mentioned the several defects found on the models. The reply I got back from the seller was "These are just model cars. You can't expect them to be perfect." For $130.00 each, they should be better much closer to perfection than the Maisto model (which is actually quite good). What does your $130.00 get you (actually $89.00 + shipping)? [1] These models are much heavier than the Maisto and Jada models due to their having a metal chassis base [2] Side door windows [3] Opening fuel filler door [4] A single simulated hydraulic hood strut [5] 2 simulated hydraulic trunk struts [6] Sliding front seats (fore and aft) [7] Coil spring suspension [8] A very detailed chassis with the cross bracing that would be found on the convertible? [9] A full headliner insert [10] Simulated carpeting, although inaccurate [11] A detailed V8 engine bay that includes the lines exiting from the ABS brake booster module, a yellow engine oil dipstick and plastic pieces that represent the cooling hoses [12] Very fragile windshield wipers [13] Rear window and radio antenna wire patterns in the rear window [14] Chevrolet bow-tie emblems that are not molded into the chassis body and front grille (but applied with super glue) [15] True see-through front grilles [16] The front bumper mail slot opening is slotted through (looks functional, if it actually were) [17] A felt like trunk lid insulator pad [18] A spare tire under a simulated carpet lift-off trunk mat (spare tire is a 20" RS rim & tire molded into the plastic lower trunk pan) [19] "RS" trunk emblem on a V8 model (there is no emblem on the grille) What you don't get: [1] The quality expected of a model in that price range [2] The shark fin roof antenna [3] The ability to easily disassemble the model for customization purposes (although I will try) [4] A clutch pedal to match the manual shifter Will I be offering to modify these models like I do with the Jada and Maisto types to replicate Camaro5 member cars? Most likely not, unless the customers want to give up the models having a "rolling chassis". If I were to offer this particular model brand as an option for my custom models, I would have to charge at least 3 times more than I normally would for the other types I offer. There are 4 screws that bolt the chassis to the body, but they are located in top of the wheel wells. They apparently assemble the chassis to the body, then attach the suspension and tire assemblies after using super glue. While trying to remove the wheels so I could get to the chassis screws, I broke off one of the front wheels. which I had to glue back on. Needless to say, that wheel no longer rolls I will post pictures after I receive another black model next week. Hopefully the quality issues that were on my first black sample were a fluke.
