I assume you're referring to the Boston Acoustincs speakers... It's all subjective of course but I thought the speakers were pretty damn good. Probably one of the most "full" and balanced systems I've heard in a while. This was with music off my Zune so I know what it should sound like too. But no, it doesn't come with a standalone sub.

Boston Acoustic make some nice stuff. They make different grades of course, and not sure what grade is in the Camaro, but you shouldn't be disappointed.

There is a dealer installed sub available.

I'm a little past the age where I want a system to "boom" and am more about clarity and sonic-range. I hear BA is excellent in both areas.

It is probably not "High Grade" top quality BA speakers that are going into the Camaro. For that you will be spending well over $2,000. However I'm sure it will sound way better than the stock speakers...

I figured that they wouldn't be. I had a set of BA rallye's in my old truck and loved them. Really fell in love with BA back in the 90's when I had a system in my RX7.

What about the non-Boston Acoustics upgrade system? Anyone hear the basic system?

They're decent speakers,I've heard them in many Chrysler products, but one thing you need to remember is a speakers sound and clarity are only as good as the audio that is being pushed through them

You can spend $1,000 on speakers and $100 on a Radio shack CD player, and your stereo/speakers are still gonna sound like crap.

If you think the audio coming out of a youtube video sounds good, then you don't need to upgrade to the BA speakers..

The speakers are so good that Chuck Norris teared up when he first heard them.

I have around $200,000 worth of audio equipment in my home (across 2 rooms), but I must admit that I don't care about quality NEARLY as much in a car.

I have both systems in the driveway.

Number 3 is the base system and for me it is sufficient. I have no problems with radio or iphone through the PDIM.

My wife's SS has the BA system. To me the base is much, much better. Deeper and richer overall sound. It is noticeably better than the standard audio package.

I am not an audiophile, but I can definitely tell a difference. It is probably worth the upgrade unless you think you can do better on your own, which I expect many of you can and will do.

I'm going to have to upgrade. I'm going to grab 1 12" sub for the trunk. The speakers will have to match in quality. I may go the BA route if I can afford it.

Are there any jacks or wiring the trunk for a sub even if you don't get the dealer upgrade?

My guess is there will be some kind of harness in the trunk for the "aftermarket" GMPP subs to be a "simple" install at the factory, but I am as interested as you to get some confirmation on whether that's true or not.

I just looked in the trunk, no extra wiring harness or anything obvious. Anyone know where to look if it's tucked away?

Correct me if im wrong, but the BA system is not just a speaker upgrade but also a different head unit (HU), not a different look anyways, but the internals must be different. That or they use the same head unit, with pre-outs to an added BA amplifier

If case 1 is correct, even people planning to do their own audio should get the BA system, to take advantage of the better HU components which cant be changed due to the VERY custom and integrated nature of the HU in this car

If case 2 is correct, it should be stupid easy to add a kick ass system yourself given that the system already hase pre-outs available

i believe there is a remote mounted amplifier involved

and it should be easy to upgrade the sound system without replacing the HU.there are alot of aftermarket companies that make products to add to a factory HU.
