Got a question I need help with

I own an LS and like real wide rear tires. I have stock tires now, whats the widest I can go on the stock rims or am I riding on them now and if I increase size I'd need to buy new rims?

Just found a thread that says people have widened stock rims to accomodate larger tires. Can I do this w/ LS rims? Also where would one get this kind of work done at?
