New clutch/flywheel installed in V6!!!

Had the custom clutch and flyhwheel from Adkins Performance installed in my car. Here are some pics. Dont want to go too much into detail, as I dont want to get into trouble for advertising. I havent driven it yet because its still getting the "turbo treatment", but here are some pics.

Yes-let us know what you think. I'm anxious to hear about any benefits we might see on a N/A car from the lightened flywheel. Thanks!

The Adkins Kit, which I am still patiently waiting for with Version 2 flywheel.

Nope.

Yes, the first flywheel was too small. The LLT's crank is externally balanced. So the smaller lighter version 1 flywheel wouldn't work. So a slightly heavier flywheel is being made.

Sorry about taking so long for the update. I picked up my car on the 2nd of Aug and drove around with the new clutch/flywheel all around California. It takes off nice and smooth. It also revs up faster, the new flywheel is 1/3 the weight of the stock. There is definately a little more chatter from the transmission, but was told its because of the single mass flywheel. Its not bad, but it is there. Also, I drove from California to Texas(1300miles) in 100+ degree weather with no problems at all.

As of a few days ago, my transnission is really starting to stick in first and second. Im even having trouble putting it into first gear, when Im at a light I have to slip into third and then back over to first just to get it to go in. Im having to put a good amount of power into pulling it out of 1st gear also. Im going to have it checked tomorrow.

HAd the same problem with my 2001 mazda mp3 , put an ACT clutch and fidanza flywheel and it was nothing but problems, whenever it got hot or stuck in traffic, first gear and second gear wear a bitch, double clutching did work in helping, but I am leary of ever going with and aftermarket clucth and flywheel again. good luck

If the flywheel & clutch is not the correct mass and balance for the internally balanced motor (the clutch should be neutral) then the chatter & vibration will eventually take out the trans bearings for the input shaft.

Hi, don't know if this helps but..

I'm the proud owner of a 2006 CTS V6 6M and 1st and 2nd gear not going in smoothly from a dead stop is a common problem now in my 3rd transmission (and if I remember correctly in my 1st one too). I still have the horrible dual mass flywheel, it's insanely heavy and I suspect too hard in the drivetrain. Actually, it chewed up through the spline on the clutch this last time.

I knew this day would come (somebody making an aftermarket aluminum flywheel for GM's new V6). Which is saving me a lot of work, R&D and possibly aggravation. This week I've been taking measurements form an existing flywheel I have and making a 3-D model to send to send for quotes.

I am also interested to see how this comes out.
