I'd be pretty upset if the pre-order group got screwed with higher prices.

lmao you and your Sham-wow
Yeah well i thought there was supposed to be a price increase today, maybe it was just the destination charge not be included anymore. But that never applied to us Canadians anyways.
I doubt that we would pay more, it would be great to get a discount though

I doubt the Camaro's price will be reduced. There may be cash back, which we would get if it is in effect at delivery time. I'd be just as happy if they offered the 0%/60 month financing on it.

I said yesterday it was the new Camaro website and the improved MPG.

Sometimes folks should listen to me even though I am a nut.

They were saying yesterday, the camaro can NOT get into a discount war... If you discount it from the start. The overall value of the car plummits. This is bad, not only for the collectors market, and the resale market, but for GM as a whole.

GM, well actually Ford and whats the name of the other one?, they have all played themselves out with the $4000 cash back employee pricing with 0% for 84 months across the line for years and years. They have made it their business model and I don't care how cool the Camaro is, they will be selling them at invoice just like all of their other cars including Vettes in a short period of time.

Its a catch 22 to be an early buyer, I think the preorders will bring good money, but when that demand has been met and you get to the average buyers, its gonna be a tough sell.

I agree, with you on the "post hype" sales. But that is one of the problems that have caused GM's current problems... Its why Toyotas have a HIGH resale value and why Chevy's don't. Everytime a rebate is issued or cash back is offered it isnt just a discount on the purchase price.. its an overall decrease in the value of the vehicle.

Toyota does it too. I think the resale of those cars is based solely on perceived value because of their great reliability and not so much on acquisition cost. I bought my last Toyota and Nissan trucks at invoice, in fact I got the Toyota -80 behind the dealers cost.

What people don't get and won't get for a number of years is that Ford is building exceptional cars and Chevy has made huge improvements as well. It will just take a number of years for people to accept that they have parity with the foreign nameplates. They do right now but people just haven't accepted it.

I wouldn't think twice about buying a Camaro or a Chevy truck or another Vette, but I have an expectation that I will get the car cheap and with incentives. Again, that is something Chevy has created in my mind and they have a tough road ahead to undo some long term ideas that they have reinforced for so many years.

ONE CAVEAT: I really want them to succeed, not only that, I would like to see them get back on top. If they get a little boost from the buy American sentiment, that is fine by me.

Don't expect to see discounts on the Camaro for at least the first year or so (assuming the economy is still in a rut). The people who are going to buy a Camaro in the first year are the ones who have been waiting for it for quite some time and are willing to pay good money for it. GM wouldn't throw that opportunity away by discounting the Camaro out the gate.

Even if/when the Camaro does get discounted, I suspect the SS will not be part of it. Keep your fingers crossed, but don't count on it.

Agreed. I'm one of those people planning to wait, and I expect some manner of a bargain on a V6 by the time I'm ready. What I won't get is what the pre-order full-pop payers are getting: the first Camaro on their block. By the time I get in one, all of the chasing down the freeway and drawing crowds in gas stations will be over. You first adopters are paying a premium for that and I think it's worth it. If I could afford to get out of my Civic and pay full price for a 2LT/RS right now, I would do it.

Paying a Premium? The price of the V6 is incredible for what we are getting, you're making it sound like i'm cutting my right arm off to be a first on the road owner. I'm sure you'll get some kind of discount down the line on the V6 and good for you but by then I won't care because I would have been in my Camaro a while and moved on to other things I have on my list.

Rebates and incentives are used to move cars that are not selling, what logic is there here for GM to do that. We may see a reduce finance rate but don't count on 0%.

Why would a company discount a car that's selling well. If Camaro demand dropped significantly, which it probably won't for a long time, then they should discount it.
