I believe the 2012 model year will be a smallest
number of ZL1' being produced of any production
year.

Reasons being:

First year of being produced and Thier will be delays
In production do to final approval.
Having enough parts which maybe produced in other
countries.
A short production run year meaning production
starts early next year and ends with the rest of the
2012 models in late May.

As far as how many are produced the ZL1 has to share
the assemble line with all the other camaro's being
made at the same factory. Plus Thier are I believe three
other types of cars being made Thier such as Regals.

The one positive benefit I see and my hope is that
because they start production in let's say January
that this will be a slow time for for car sales. Thus
an excellent time to prioritize the production of ZL1's
over that of other cars. Especially since alot of dealers
are receiving preorders for these cars.

I'll be really interested to see what the final sales
numbers end up being for this car for the first
year of it's production.

I think that we can use the 2011 Convertible production numbers as a good guide for estimating the 2012 ZL1 production numbers, as the production time line for the two vehicles will be very similar -- Q4 ordering and January production start, and the both have unique parts when compared to the SS coupe.

Well - GM's said they're not going to restrict production, but like others have posted, that doesn't mean there won't be possible delays. What's important is GM's said they will make as many as they can sell, and I think that's great.

Hopefully dealers will be able to fulfill ALL firm orders with deposits paid in advance to be included in initial allocations!!

I'm planning to be there when they open on the first day of ordering to put in my bid for exactly the options I want. My dealership is the 25th largest in volume in the nation, and I am first on their list (also at MSRP.)

I just wonder if preorders will count against a dealership's allocation? Anybody got an answer for that one?

Nothing official on ZL1 but fbodfather has said same color palette for ZL1 as the other 2012 Camaro colors.

I am trading mine also but will leave the ZL1 pure stock. Why mod a ZL1? It's just perfect the way God made it!

Sorry. No. It's not that easy. Mid 11s with a few mods and DRs probably. Those remaining tenths are HAAAARD to come by.

Coolman, you are just in antcipatory mode. (did I just make up a word?)

I did the same thing. I wanted to wait but I ordered my car before production becasue I thought they may stop it due to economic/bailout/cafe/bankruptcy purposes. Paranoid till I got my car.

10 sec car...No chance. To many people think it takes nothing to have a 10 second car. If so, then why are ther 50 or so cars that make 600+ rwhp and what, maybe 8 have made 10 second passes. You'll prob end up with a low 11 second car which is pretty good for just the few things you mentioned about changing. But 10 second's...Thanks for my Sat am laugh.

With the right driver, the CTS-V can break into the 11's bone stock. Put a set of DR's on it and it will probably hit mid 11's. The ZL1 should be lighter than the CTS-V so I see no reason why we won't see 11 second runs from the ZL1.
