Flowmaster American Thunder
I have decided to install a quieter exhaust (Borla) and my Flowmaster American Thunder axle back is now available.
They have approximately 1100 miles on them, fits the V6 Camaro. Asking $275.00 Local pickup in the So. Florida / Palm Beach County area only. It would cost too much to ship, especially since this system can be purchased new for only around $415.00 |

So...the Borla is quieter than the Flowmaster A.T? I was thinking about getting either of these for my v6 and haven't been able to decide which one.

Flowmaster AT part number 817495 (3 inch in/out) is for the V8. This one is the 817483 system (2.5 inch in/out)

The stock tail pipe on the V8 is 2-1/2". It should fit. I asked flowmaster about this. They said it would fit but they didnt recommend it as the sound was designed for the V6. I think they just said that so I'd buy the cat back (3" system) which I did and LOVE!

jrhaus76 - Were' glad to hear that your Cat-Back Flowmaster is music to your ears!
The exhaust pipes on the V6 and V8's are both 2 1/2" diameter. The difference between the V6 and V8 American Thunder kits are the mufflers and pipes. The V8 kit has adapters that flare the pipe to 3" going into the mufflers. Installing the V6 Axle-Back on a V8 would be restrictive and hamper performance and we're confident the sound would be undesirable if you're looking for the Flowmaster signature muscle car sound. Here you can see the adapters to join the 2 1/2" to the 3" pipe leading to the muffler.

Sounds really good, but just a little loud for the occasional rear seat passengers that complain (wife, and 7 year old) about drone. If it was just just me in the car for the most part, I would have kept this on. You can literally feel it in the seat of your pants......

I think these would be too restrictive for a V8.

Hey I saw this on CL recently and just didnt know if it was the same person...
My stock v8 exhaust is 2.5" - is there a difference in the actuall mufflers from the V6 and V8 kit? I have LTs no cats and muffler delete - if theres no difference in the actual "mufflers" I might take this... I have new tips that Im going to weld on, just looking for the Flowmaster mufflers... don't need the whole catback v8.... LMK

If I only order the mufflers will they be adaptable to my stock pipes or do I have to buy the whole kit?
