I removed the rear tail light bezels and was wondering if there would be any issues with possible water etc. keeping them off since I like the look without them?

Nope, no issues. I ran with mine off for about 8 months. Then I painted the bezels flat black and reinstalled them. I liked the look with the bezels removed, but I like the look of flat black better.

Some have used closed cell foam around the lights after bezel removal.

I'm not sure you would want to put anything around the lights that would block water. I think the taillights is the place where water exits from the drains around the trunk opening.
