This is my journey to unwind a bit on C5 as you can tell I like to talk a lot on C5!
I won't share a whole lot about myself as I want to dedicate this section
to my car the up and coming 2012 ZL1 that I have happily named Bruce Lee.
Yes, like chuck norris!
Am I fan of Bruce Lee movies you might ask? Some. They are ok..
But you notice no one ever beat bruce! Not even ol chuck!
If you are wondering and have seen my section before I decided since I have so much free time
on my hands before Bruce is born I decided to write and come up with ways
to spruce it up a bit. Someone mentioned pics..
Ok fine... All we have is pics from the ZL1 section. Here is what bruce will look
like when I get him sans the egg crate grill:

Bruce will have have the following options:
5 Spoke polished wheels, and the low gloss stripe package with black insert.
Everything else is standard.

7/12/11*
Went down to Young Chevrolet today in Dallas and got
on board with Bob Tyndall and talked about ZL1.
He told me to come back Dec 1st and we will start working out details
and getting ready for my ZL1 order!
This is a 50k car and is nothing to sneeze about so pray with me on this please
as I will need it im sure.
I have decided that Inferno Orange Metallic will be Bruce's color along
with the optional polished wheels UNLESS chevy decides to do another
one off or ZL1 specific color. No Mods are planned. What I can order from the factory,
he will stay all factory in appearance. Manual Tranny is a must. There is nothing that I could do to make this
$50k + car look any better. My money would be better spent making final payments!
My goal, half down, finance the rest. Bob told me he would help me see it through,
shook hands and told me to come back Dec 1st.
Gawd this is going to be the hardest next 12 months of my life but I am ready to start
NOW......again, please wish me luck. I will update my thread as we go along, or change of
plans, etc.

I do not think I have ever been excited about any one thing in a long while..
Out of 8 First gen camaros, and 5 third gens, this will be camaro #14 folks!
And I can't and never say never..but won't be the last im sure!

Hmmmm, A build thread with no build? j/k, So has it been said that Dec 1st is the date you can order the ZL1? You'll mod something, I'd be willing to bet money on that one.

The dealer was asking me more questions about the ZL1 as they did not know a whole lot about it, production date etc. They told me based off my information that I needed to be down there the first of Dec to start paper work etc.
They can not due any kind of preliminary check on credit / resources without a VIN number. They already understand even if they are allocated a ZL1 I do not want the first one that comes in; that I want to order mine. I have had plenty of new cars but never got lucky enough to order one. This will be a first for me in that regard.

I am a fan of mods. But im quite sure this is just one of those cars that you would not want to do anything to it as far as keeping it a collectible that need to keep its value etc. All mods do is depreciate the car and it will depreciate enough as it is when it rolls off the dealer lot.

Tint strips don't count! LOL
o well... a little don't hurt...
The first thing I do when I get any car....used or new is tint the windows.....
and do the tint strip.....usually before the car makes it to my driveway even...
so yea.... I guess I will be found guilty of tinting my windows...
We shall see... If the factory would darken em up a little there would be no need right?

Slightly off topic but its our thread anyway so what the hey...
Anyway, yesterday I drove past Young Chevrolet and noticed that they had a IOM with white stripes all the way down the front in the back. Its either a pace car or 45th.... not sure which.. Maybe pace car...
Gonna try and check it out tomorrow to see exactly what it is thats out there..

I know the first step is getting the car.
I know I will probably go ahead and tint the windows and maybe I can stop at a windshield strip across the front.
What I am struggling with is NOT wanting to go further and do things i might regret in the future. CAI, headers, pipes, cats, BIGGER CAM..
You know some stuff can be easily undone, but some things are not that easy to un do such as a cam swap. I know it takes self discipline and control especially if you have the money or can get the money to do these things. I am one of those that are never satisfied, ill admit. And once I am satisfied it has never kept me satisfied more than 5 years tops. This will be Camaro #14 people! I am so excited I am in stitches! This is our theread. So some of you guys that are out there, do you plan on modding or changing things out in your ZL1 as soon as you get it, or are you going to leave it bone stock like we probably all should? Maybe I should take it easy and see where the future takes me. Get the car and at least try to drive it 6 months to a year and TRY not to change anything other than the window tint?
I don't think that I have that kind of self control. Or deep down do I really need to go out and out and make it 110% like I deep down really want?
600 lift cam, headers, and CAI......
And whatever other cool ideas my fellow 5th genner's can give me...

I am EXTATIC! ITS ONLY AUG!

Yea that shirt it is one of my fave. I had no idea there was a hole in it till we took the pics and I posted here! Thats funny. But now I know I need to toss the shirt. They were gonna let me sit in the car but it was 100 degrees out side and I did not want to keep the sales person waiting. They actually stayed out side with me and talked my head off for about 30 min! Anyway, I told them I would come by in Dec to see if I want the roof or not. SO......
Since I am not doing anything at all......first thing I am gonna do is go down there and try and decide if I want the roof or not. Looks wise, I kinda like it without the roof and with the stripe going down the mohawk. I know that if I get the sunroof I will lose the stripe and then that will make me run down to the paint and body shop to add the stripe with the roof! That would count as a mod too! So yea while I am thinking about it and I have a lot of time to kill going down there to check it out. Ill post my findings. Ill have my Iphone 4 in hand to take some more pics. I could even post em here as I take em!

Went down today to the dealer. Pulled up and my salesman came out.
They went promptly inside got the keys and started the car from inside the showroom with the remote start! Thought that was kinda kool as it was my first time to see anyone actually use the remote start. I opened the door sat down and my head immediately touched the roof of the car! The first thing the salesman did was grab ahold of the seat adjuster and laid the seat back down for me. AHHHH much better now! The seat back had pretty much been sitting straight up and down with no tilt to it. Once I adjusted the seat like I wanted I had a good inch or more from the top of my head to the bottom of the roof. About the same amount as I had in my new jetta I had with the moon roof. So that was a relief!
Next for shits and giggles I told them I wanted to sit in a non moon roof camaro just to see how it was. Little bit more head room. But all in all once I messed with the seat I do not see how it will make that much difference one way or another on which way I decided to go with the moon roof or not.
I went on to explain to the dealer my fears of getting the roof and then the car not being striped on the top with the Mohawk stripe. They mentioned at this point they said they did not think since the ZL1 is a performance production car they felt like it would NOT have a moon roof anyway.
I told them it was speculation from (camaro5 members) that the ZL1 would have it more than likely as an option. They nodded they're head anyway.
The salesman mentioned that they think the ZL1 will have a telescoping wheel as well which I thought would be kinda cool.
We left in agreement that I would have time between now and Dec to be deciding if I wanted the moon roof or not, but the fact remains is since there is no production of the ZL1 at this point it, it really is still a concept car at this point as we do not know all of the options that will be possible at this point and time. I told them when I left that I was fine either way with roof or no roof main thing is I want the car!
They happily agreed!

best encouragement I have had all day... Woke up this morning in deep tears.....
(long story) but I guess my mom was having a bad morning as I had made a phone call to her to check to see how she was doing, and some of my ???'s bothered her. At 47 I guess she still wanted me to know that she was mom and I was still her child...
Anyway, I can't believe I am talking about this in an open forum but I am.
(glad family don't read this forum) But anyway she said something to me that cut to the core...not sure if its just her dealing with some stuff or what.. but it brought me to tears for about 30 minutes... I know.........wheeeehhhhhhhh! right?? lol!
But, to shrug it off I drove down to the dealer and did what I said I was going to do
and that made me feel 150% better! First fifth gen I got to even sat in folks!
I like the feel of it. Roof line is a tad low, and the first thing I noticed felt like the gas pedal was so high and up to my knee? I guess they arent adjustable?
I know me or my family had a car at one point that had a adjustable/ electric adjuster on the height of the pedal...Not sure what car that may have been though?
I can't find anything on google about an adjustable pedal either...
Does a corvette have this as an option? Maybe it was out 1979 Excalibur (corvette chassis) that did this? I know we had something that the accelorator would move up and down for comfort. Anyway! THANK YOU SO MUCH for the encouragement! May God Bless you and keep you safe!

Mike, you are going to be on my LONG list of heros. WHEN this car gets built and I want you to find the car and we will find a spot on the car somewhere for you to sign it with a large sharpie pen. Maybe we can come up wth a dash plaque for it and let ALL you guys sign it. That would mean so much to me. We will (camaro 5 members) will figure out something.

Heck, my TPW is 8/15/11 and I'm totally on count down; I can NOT EVEN imagine having to wait until "early 2012" for my Camaro!

I had no idea there was a hole in it till we took the pics and I posted here! Thats funny. But now I know I need to toss the shirt. They were gonna let me sit in the car but it was 100 degrees out side and I did not want to keep the sales person waiting. They actually stayed out side with me and talked my head off for about 30 min! Anyway, I told them I would come by in Dec to see if I want the roof or not. SO...... Since I am not doing anything at all......first thing I am gonna do is go down there and try and decide if I want the roof or not. Looks wise, I kinda like it without the roof and with the stripe going down the mohawk. I know that if I get the sunroof I will lose the stripe and then that will make me run down to the paint and body shop to add the stripe with the roof! That would count as a mod too! So yea while I am thinking about it and I have a lot of time to kill going down there to check it out. Ill post my findings. Ill have my Iphone 4 in hand to take some more pics. I could even post em here as I take em! Pulled up and my salesman came out. They went promptly inside got the keys and started the car from inside the showroom with the remote start! Thought that was kinda kool as it was my first time to see anyone actually use the remote start. I opened the door sat down and my head immediately touched the roof of the car! The first thing the salesman did was grab ahold of the seat adjuster and laid the seat back down for me. AHHHH much better now! The seat back had pretty much been sitting straight up and down with no tilt to it. Once I adjusted the seat like I wanted I had a good inch or more from the top of my head to the bottom of the roof. About the same amount as I had in my new jetta I had with the moon roof. So that was a relief! Next for shits and giggles I told them I wanted to sit in a non moon roof camaro just to see how it was. Little bit more head room. But all in all once I messed with the seat I do not see how it will make that much difference one way or another on which way I decided to go with the moon roof or not. I went on to explain to the dealer my fears of getting the roof and then the car not being striped on the top with the Mohawk stripe. They mentioned at this point they said they did not think since the ZL1 is a performance production car they felt like it would NOT have a moon roof anyway. I told them it was speculation from (camaro5 members) that the ZL1 would have it more than likely as an option. They nodded they're head anyway. The salesman mentioned that they think the ZL1 will have a telescoping wheel as well which I thought would be kinda cool. We left in agreement that I would have time between now and Dec to be deciding if I wanted the moon roof or not, but the fact remains is since there is no production of the ZL1 at this point it, it really is still a concept car at this point as we do not know all of the options that will be possible at this point and time. I told them when I left that I was fine either way with roof or no roof main thing is I want the car! Woke up this morning in deep tears..... (long story) but I guess my mom was having a bad morning as I had made a phone call to her to check to see how she was doing, and some of my ???'s bothered her. At 47 I guess she still wanted me to know that she was mom and I was still her child... Anyway, I can't believe I am talking about this in an open forum but I am. (glad family don't read this forum) But anyway she said something to me that cut to the core...not sure if its just her dealing with some stuff or what.. but it brought me to tears for about 30 minutes... I know.........wheeeehhhhhhhh! right?? lol! But, to shrug it off I drove down to the dealer and did what I said I was going to do and that made me feel 150% better! First fifth gen I got to even sat in folks! I like the feel of it. Roof line is a tad low, and the first thing I noticed felt like the gas pedal was so high and up to my knee? I guess they arent adjustable? I know me or my family had a car at one point that had a adjustable/ electric adjuster on the height of the pedal...Not sure what car that may have been though? I can't find anything on google about an adjustable pedal either... Does a corvette have this as an option? Maybe it was out 1979 Excalibur (corvette chassis) that did this? I know we had something that the accelorator would move up and down for comfort. Anyway! THANK YOU SO MUCH for the encouragement!
