My project

Hey just thought I would post a picture of my project. Its a '92 RS its got a rebuilt 350 in it with the original 305 heads and throttle body injection, a rebuilt 700r4 and the original rear end (for now). I have lost interest for awhile but with my money situation not really allowing me to order a new camaro right now and the need for a replacement for my '01 SS long over due, I am thinking of getting on this car again. Any suggestions on what I should do next

r.i.p.01slpss, I'm in a similar situation, sold my 99 B4C LS1 and 71 Chevelle last Oct. to pay the mortgage for awhile and want a 1SS but couldnt wait and bought a 89 RS hardtop T5.

I plan to swap in a LS1 or 5.3 and T56 soon as I can find and afford a donor 4th gen.

I say put the SS drivetrain in the RS if you can.

Ya I really wanted to go that route. I wanted to buy my ss back and take the drivetrain from it but it was gonna cost me too much money for a wrecked car at the time to do so, so i built the current engine and trans.

it needs paint, a windshield, a carrier bearing in the rear end is going out and it needs a better exhaust. i also need to find a set of hood blisters from a 91-92 z28. my hood has no louvers or blisters.

Put some Vortec heads on that 350, swap the cam and intake so it can flow some air. Maybe a Ramjet 350 intake and computer kit with Vortec heads? A 3.23-3.73 gear would make it more fun to drive IMO.

Those hood louvers seem to cost more than the Z28/Iroc hood does, good luck on that search.

Looks like a good project, drivetrain and paint.

I agree on the vortecs. my nova's engine has vortecs on it and i love em. the 350 in the camaro has a big cam, lost the cam card but around .500 lift don't remeber the duration or lobe separation. the problem I have is I don't know if I want to switch to a carb to run the vortecs. I know throttle body injection isn't the best but it is fuel injection and the car runs really well (although really rich). As for the hood, in the end I'll either put regular louvers in it or go ss style.

My friends 90 Firebird ran the same way when he went with a 350 shortblock and cam. He even wasted money on a truck 350 TBI and still real rich, but ran OK. He sold the car because he never saw the power he wanted. There would be alot more power if you went with the Vortecs and a LT1 type intake, or some L98 heads and a LT1 intake modified for distributer(drill the hole) as long as you have the right cam/compression for the combo.

Edelbrock makes a TPI vortec intake manifold.

good to know that edelbrock makes an intake. GM makes one too but its expensive and hard to find a part number for.
