Tommy again Congrats, I got lucky to see some of the process and also it wasn't even my car and I was a bit scare when I saw your car literally in pieces, but the end result is amazing. Keep up the good work your doing with the car. I know how long this process was and I know all the commitment you and jessie put into adding all the led lights and it was a long process for sure. Congrats!!!

Thanks a lot sub zero. Your car looks fantastic too. I know how you feel to be proud of the Camaro. Every time I see all o our cars on this forum, it's amazing to see all the different looks and personalities of car modifications. I always like talking to owners to see why they decided to go with what they did, and some of the stories are pretty cool.

They are the 3D Carbon fender vents. Lupe did a great write up on how to install them.

Steiger is correct. The manufacturer is 3D Carbon. I had them installed locally and 3D Carbon already paints them at their facility if your request it. I had to have my shop paint them over because they didn't match perfectly. That wasn't 3D Carbons fault though. My fenders are lighter in color than some other parts of the car, so originally the vents looked darker. The vents are worth every penny in comparison to full fenders when you look at the price difference. After that it's just a visual appeal preference thing. 3D carbon even provides a stencil for the shop to use to cut out a piece of the stock fender. I recommends using Epoxy to secure those suckers on though and not 3M tape.

The price varies but normally with paint it's anywhere from $400-500 and sometimes the shop will install them for crazy cheap if you allow them to order the vents for you from 3D Carbon.
Did you sell your Camaro?? It looks like you may have bought a 5.0 mustang. Did you not like the Camaro SS after upgrading? It seemed like you had the SS for only a couple weeks or so. |

Yo tcat question for you I'm getting ready to put my vis ams hood on. Have you ever gotten caught in the rain how do the rain guards work? I'm worried that the one vent is right above my airraid intake and it might let water into the intake.

When I got this hood and the turbo, I decided to retire this car as a daily driver. The car can easily be washed with the rain guards on, but don't soak one vent for too long. A matter of fact, I actually install the rain guards specifically to wash the car . However, in rain I don't take it because if you would sit in one spot for too long, either the vent near the intake could soak the filter, and the vent closest to the fuse box could potentially cause issues. At freeway speeds, I can't imagine as much of an issue as when stopped.

![]() Yeah I don't daily this car anymore either after the big cam, just not friendly to parking lots and traffic which we have too much of here in NJ. The guy was telling me that the hood comes with the rain guard installed? I thought it might be possible to construct something to block the vents from underneath or build something to sit underneath the vent and drain out any excess that might leak by? When your washing the car do you notice any water getting into the engine bay? Also what if any CAI are you running, was thinking of switching to a CAI(CAI) because its enclosed. I agree at speed I don't see any issues at all but I ask more for the freak rain storm that always seems to happen when they say its gonna be sunny.

![]() ![]() You're correct, the rainguards to come with the hood, and sometimes they come installed and other times come unattached. I had the underside of my hood painted as well, so I took them off to get that done. Luckily, the rain guards (two panels: one for each side running vertical) are attached via 6 screws on each panel that go right through the guard and into the hood. They are also fiberglass and really light and easy to deal with. It is possible to construct a covering or channel of some sort to drain out excess water, but I don't think it would be worth it. The reason being heat dissipation. The rain guards are just simply small rectangular horizontal slits in the fiberglass that are a tad offset from the vents that don't allow as much moisture in the vents and try to make the water travel towards the sides (does a decent job, but it's not perfect). If these rain guards were to be altered, covered, or changed in many ways, the heat extraction would simply not be as good. In fact, the only time I really want the rain guards on are when I wash the car . The under hood temps seem much cooler with the guards off, and this hood does one of the best jobs extracting heat that I've ever seen due to the large vents. I only notice water get in the engine bay if I drench each vent (with the rain guard on of course) by hosing down one section of the hood near the vent to long. However, if you wash the hood and spray as normall on the actual hood and not the vents, you should be perfectly fine . As for the cold air induction, it may be best to switch to the C.A.I company due to it being enclosed. Before I went with the turbo, I had a C.A.I cold air intake and it did its jobs beautifully. On the top glass encasement, I usually saw water spots and signs of moisture from washing the car especially around the vent. The C.A.I prevented absolutely anything from getting in. Simply wipe off any excess water from the too and you are good to go!
