Swap your brakes to V6 brakes or put really big spacers on.

You won't find them because no one makes them. You would have to have then custom made at about $100 each, but you would first have to mock up the wheels to see how thick the spacers would have to be. Also you would have to cut off the roller skate weights from your front brakes.

Ah shit LOL i want to run slicks on them cuz they are a smaller and lighter rim and it would be a inexpensive way of doing it!! Guess that idea is gone haha

The biggest problem is the fronts. The rears are easier to fit. I don't know if anyone has tried putting the stock 18s on the rear.

Yeah I went with 18's all the way around 18x8.5 front with 245/45 street tirers, 18x11 rears with 295/40 street tires and 18x11 rears with 315/40 Nitto drag radials. Spent 2 grand on just wheels. :( Then another $1,400 on tires but I LOVE my wheels.

BTW I see you're in Wylie. I'm down the street in Sachse!

Well, I was looking to do the same thing but for a diffrent reason. Has anyone used the 18inch LS rims on a 2SS for Winter Tires? If you are still wondering why, Price, Higher Side wall, tire selection,...

I understand that the skate wheels on the back of the front calipers seems to be sticking out too far, but I still don't undertsand what kind of spacers would need to be used. Has anyone done it?

The stock LS wheels weight 32.9lbs each while the stock ss wheels weigh 30.3lbs in the front and 32lbs in the back. (Info from here)

You wouldn't be saving any weight at all. The only way to get lighter 18s that fit properly would be to do a set up like SUX2BU.

I tried it. No go on the rears with factory Brembos. The wheel won't sit flush. The calipers are too husky. Custom spacers could help. Here's pics:

Swiss,

Eibach makes spacers for the SS, hubcentric and well built. I'm looking at them myself. I may try to get some steelies and paint them a pewter/silver.

So I have only one more question. While it seems that the spacer idea might work to avoid the front/outside of the wheel to touch the calipers, there is still the issues of the front rollers. Can those be removed in the winter for example and then re-attached or will they have to be cut?

The caliper protrusion in the rear is actually the same as the fron on these cars. Not the norm.

If you need spacers we can get them to you. Just call us and let us know how think you need.

Most people cut them off and leave them that way. That's what I did when I went to 18s. You don't have to vut them, you can just buy aftermarket brake pads. No one else has big goofy weights on the pads, just GM.

The rear rotors are larger in diameter than the fronts, so even with smaller calipers they are not an easy fit.
