Post your Cat Back VERT system please!

Ok- so I've given up on Flow Master as they finally acknowledged they wont be building a Cat-Back convertible compatible system any time soon (axle-back variation to be released around end of June)...

That being the case, im back in the market again for an exhaust, problem is- don't know which systems have been TESTED and proven to fit the convertible (without additional modifications.)

So please, fellow vert owners, if you have a CAT-BACK exhaust system on your car, please, post here! (Sound clips/vids also greatly appreciated!)

On a more specific note- I've turned my sights to the Borla Atak, however; need to know if it'll fit n LS3 w GM gfx....

Thanks in advance!

Borlaug Exhaust

Drago I'm thinking about the Borlaug ATAK or S-Type, and unless I'm confused I think they are about to be available for the vert. Maybe I'm wrong about that?

My Vert should be here this week! 2SS RS 20" Polished Black exterior IOM interior. I cant wait!!!!!!!!

Drago, Give the solo performance guys a call, they have been working on the Vert V8 cat back. The V6 cat back only required some minor pulls to get it to clear all the bracing. I had this system on my coupe also and it sounds great.

Borla S-type on mine. Now that I hit 1000 miles. I had the car put up on a lift to check everything. I felt the catback was a little too close to the cross bracing so I put some spacers on the bolts between the car and the braces to make a little more room. Other than that, I love it.

According to Steve and Jeff at Solo they don't have anything that will fit the convertible...Yet. So I figured I would take one for the Camaro5 team and drive the 800 miles or so and let them figure it out on my car. Jeff said he wanted to do both the cat back and axle back fitment so he will need my car for 2 days. I should be up there the first week of June. I'll let you all know how it turns out.

Just found out Magnaflow Comp.and St. Series are brig released this week for the verts... ugh- decisions, decisions!

So we have:

BORLA: touring, S Type.and Atak
SLP: Loudmouth
Magnaflow: Street and Comp...

***update***
appearantly I received some "questionable " information from a nearby retailer;

Magnaflow (per their own customer service rep I spoke to myself) is still in pre-production phase. I was told to check back in 2-4 weeksfor an update. They ate currently accepting pre-orders, but no expected release/ship date.

Sorry, but I went with the GMPP axle back (supposedly built by Borla).
Thought about waiting for aftermarket, but the dealer talked me into just having him do it before delivery so it's on the paperwork for 30-40 years from now and no questions asked by our local emissions Nazis at every inspection.
Sounds great, but I do notice a bit of a drone at about 72mph under light throttle with the top up. Nice agressive sound when you jump on it.
Haven't found a good solution to finish the pipes through the GFX though.

I'll have to add my Borla S cat-back to the mix also. Works great, no rattle after driving it for a good 1000+ miles.

Magnaflow shows systems on thier website compatible for the vert, BUT THEY DON'T FIT. I found out the hard way. I had a shop install one for me, assured that it was for the convertible only to find out they torched and smashed it to get it to fit under the middle brace, and had to also dent it to get it to clear the two rear braces. So now supposedly magnaflow is going to have the correct one within a month and is going to replece mine and cover the shops labor. I can tell you that it is the street series and it sounds great! the tips look really cool two.

Here's the latest from Magnaflow on the vert exhausts, which does make sense and bring everyones stories together:

The comp and street cat-back systems were in fact released today (Wednesday.) HOWEVER, the GM GFX compatible system is still in pre-production. This system (15095) will have the square tips to fit the bezels and hangers to properly align. Still looking at 4-8 weeks. Standard system though (15090) is avaliable now. Both systems differ from the previous coupe version in that this uses a single muffler/resonator with an x-pipe at the point where the pipes come together shortly after the cats. Unlike the earlier coupe system which didn't have an x pipe and had dual mufflers near the tips.

Great for those w/o gfx... those of us with will have to wait. Hope to hear some clips soon!

PS- the above description pertains to the competition 2.5" system. I didn't research the street version and the 3" is NOT compatible.

my muffler guy had to bend the rear braces but was able to do so without much effort and they still fit in the original holes. I agree the tips do look really cool!!

Drago, part # 15090 is the competition version of the one I had installed on mine (15089 street series). Those part #'s have been on magnaflows web site for some time now, and state that they fit the convertible. Unless something just changed I'm pretty sure these have to be modified to fit. I sure hope your info your getting is true, I'm definitly looking in to it tommorow.

I began looking into the Magnaflow when I stopped by Extreme Performance Monday, they have the non-gfx system going on a vert Friday, I then began shopping around for prices, through various retailers and got the conflicting stories about the release date... I spoke to Magnaflow customer service directly yestrday and they told me 4-6 weeks; now I was only looking into the 15095 gfx system. So when I went back to Extreme today to speak with them, they called also and clearified that the non gfx systems are ready and their order did already ship but the gfx system is still in the works... they're looking into whether the standard will fit the gfx with round tips instead of the upcoming squared.

So... long story short, seems accurate to me from all the research I've done this week, and completely explains the differing stories I was getting.

If you find anything different, please let me know!

I put a corsa exhaust on my manual 2ss convertible PN 14951. It fit with no clearance problems on any of the cross braces. I took off the factory exhaust and put on the corsa exhaust in 2 1/2 hrs in my garage with a floor jack and jack stands. The sound is mellow until you step on it then it sounds like a race car. Best thing about it is that there is absolutely no drone or hum or anything when cruising down the highway. Its as quiet as stock in 6th gear even at low rpms. I am very happy with it . No headaches when on a long drive.
