IP security camera systems

Anyone have some recommendations for an IP camera security system? I think I can get away with just 4 cameras.

Want to be able to record/view live/online. Having 1 wireless camera would be ideal, but can wire all if needed.

Thanks
Jason

A lot of the combination DVR / Multiplexers will have a specific IP address you can setup easily. You just plug in an Ethernet cable and setup. A lot handle 4 or 8 cameras.

I used the Alert system by Logitech. They are HD 720P cameras that do IP over power line. All you do is hook a command box to your home router and then plug these cameras into power outlets and they are set up. You do not need to run wires up your wall and through your attic. The system sends 16 FPS and is almost real motion in high def.

They also have microphones in each camera so you can listen to live or recorded audio. They have IR for night recording. I personally use the outside camera's inside as they are better at night.

I can view all of my cameras from my commander software on my computer, through any web browser and I have an app that lets me view them via my iPhone. They tend to be a bit better at night.

Another great feature is each camera has a 2 GB SD card in them so if your computer is off, they record to the camera directly and then download when your computer comes back on. The computer does not need to be on for you to watch live or the recorded video from the web or a phone app.

They are more pricey, but the ease of setup and features make them worth it. I have two teen age kids and I when I go out of town I can rest easy there are no parties at my house.

Do you want to record or just view? Is this for home or work?
Sony, Panasonic, LG, Samsung all make varieties of IP cameras. Low light? Night vision? POE? You need a a good switch too. If you just want to view most you can do on a web browser.

Forgot to mention,

We are a Mac household, so any software will need to work with my macs.

Great looking systems!

View and record. Home system, prob want a couple of night cameras, outdoors. 1-2 day cameras also.

Home security is the goal. Have a decent wired network in place

Check out Fry's (I see you're in CA and lucky enough to have them) and a lot of the other big electronic warehouse style stores. Most of them will carry a starter pack which comes with everything you need (including up to 4 cameras).
