HOWTO: Remove Front License Plate Cover & Plug Holes - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I just got my 2011 Black Camaro 2LT and it came with a front license plate cover installed. I live in PA and this is not required, but since the car came from NJ, it already had it preinstalled. I found a website called bumperplugs.com that sells plugs painted to match your vehicle to fill the holes the license plate cover leaves. Please read below for instructions:

Parts List

Black Bumper Plugs from http://www.bumperplugs.com
Drill
Drill bit (Preferably a stepping bit)

Steps

Slowly drill into the center of the rivets until the head pops off. After the rivet is removed, work your way around the cover until it breaks free.
Clean the area thouroughly and then insert the bumperplugs by applying pressure with your palm straight into the hole. You will feel them grab in and lock into place. *** Do not apply pressure to the edge of the plugs! ***
Enjoy not having an ugly plastic piece on the front of your car!

not sure if i want to spend $48.00 on this, it looks good but i can save that money and invested on something else.

I heard you can use the 'tree' looking plugs that a lot of cars have as fasteners. I'm going to try it this weekend, bought a new bumper off here and it has the front license plate bracket. Going to take it off and see what I can plug the holes with. I'm not spending $150 to fill 4 holes if I can help it.

I live in lame NJ where it is required. But I want to do a photo shoot and remove the bracket temporarily. Is there a way of getting it back on after or does drilling it mean you have to buy a new bracket? Thanks!
