What short throw shifter should I go with?

Which shifter is everyone running/ had the best luck with? Looking into getting one shortly and would like some input.. Post some pics also to give me an idea..

I like my Barton, and I especially like the stick and knob options that it allows

I went with Barton also. I like the "infinite" adjustability of the unit. It does have options for knob and stick and it has a very short throw at it's maximum adjustment. Price was good, in the middle for all of the available options.

I agree with SSOOCH though, if you go with any of the quality ones that are discussed on here, you can't go wrong.

I just installed the MGW short throw a few weeks ago and love it. It's the full replacement kit. It was a pain in the butt to install on the arms but after all it was definitly worth it. I had issues going from 2-3rd and the spring assist to center on the MGW is great. I have the black ball with orange SS to match the onterior and have had compliments and it makes the ride more enjoyable and easier to quick shift. It reduces the throw 33%.

MGW is the only shifter that replaces the whole housing. I do not see how any other shifter can compete. To each his own.

this really comes down to personal preference. You can look at the throw reduction of each brand and the shift knobs they offer. But at the end of the day people suggest the one they have, because well they have it.

The factory hurst replaces the whole shifter as well and they sell them even if you didnt order it with the car.

I was also looking into short throw shifters, but why get the Hurst (for 300$) when you can do something like this...

That isn't a shifter. It is just an adapter kit that will allow you to use different balls, handles, etc. It won't shorten the throw at all.

FYI, I have an MGW and absolutely love it.

I have the MGW installed on mine, and I love it! A little harder to install than others since it replaces the whole unit, but well worth it for sure. +1 for MGW.

Barton Shifter went in very quickly...very solid feel...adjustable throw was nice...and didn't take much playing to go straight to max adjust for shortest throw. I have a 4 speed in my '70 Vette that reminds me of this shifter...awesome feel. Very satisfied.

I have a barton as well... just put it in yesterday and only take me less than an hour but I I used a lift.

does anyone have any pics of their factory hurst shifter? i have a 2011 2ss/rs with the factory hurst. i just took the whole unit and tranny out. im having the whole tranny rebuilt by Rick due to the second gear grind issue and im replacing the clutch with the ZR1 twin disc clutch kit and slave. thinking about getting rid of factory hurst though and going with a MTI short throw. looking on MTI website looks like a much better shifter and looks like it has a shorter throw then the hurst. my factory hurst almost looks stock thats why i was wondering if anyone has a pic of thiers to compare.

thats nice! my factory hurst was not that much of a short throw. i think they lie and just put a fancy emblem on the shift knob lol

The factory Hurst splits the difference at 22% throw reduction. It is shorter than stock but the Hurst Billet/Plus 2 (aka: aftermarket Hurst) really lets you get from gear to gear about as quickly as a human is capable of.
