Window Tint - Metalized vs Ceramic, issues?

So while I wait for my Camaro, figured Id call some tint places to get quotes.

One of the reputable places I called started to ask me if the Camaro had electronics like tire pressure sensors, bluetooth, etc. Of course, I asked him what that had to do with window tint?

His response was that there have been issues with using metalized tint with cars that have built in electronics causing issues with interference and such and and recommended that I do the ceramic tint instead.

Metalized tint is $139 versus ceramic at $209.

Does this info sound valid or is this guy trying to pull some BS and get more money out of my pocket?

Not only is he right about wireless electronics like GPS, cell phone, radar detectors, etc (not sure what he's talking about in regards to tire pressure sensors though, lol), but ceramic tint also blocks a lot more heat than non-ceramic tint.

$200 is a very good deal. What type of ceramic tint was that quote for?

I have metalized on mine and all my stuff works fine [Onstar, XM, cellphone, TPM, etc.]. Heat is heat, what's being "blocked" probably doesn't make much of a difference in the end. Plus if you can't tolerate it, you'll always have AC.

Correct me if I'm wrong, this is just all from personal experience. Maybe I'm just crazy.

I just tinted mine with 18% carbon - not sure that's synonymous with ceramic. But my shop advised me of the same potential issues, and it not just camaros. Also metalized is cheaper grade and only guaranteed for 5 yrs -carbon is lifetime. I opted for the carbon with a lifetime guarantee - $200 with a $15 coupon - $185 total.

Cool. I figured this guy knew what he was talking about since this company has been in the area for a very long time....its not one of those fly by night places you pull in under a pop up canopy and some kid is dripping sweat all over the car while he does the work.

Been awhile since Ive bought tint to put on a brand new car, so wanted to be sure I wasnt being feed some BS story.
