There's quite a few videos on YouTube that show how to swap these leds out, especially if you search for scion tc...I would post a few but i figure there may be one that you will find to be a better lesson than what i might think of as better...

I have just had done all my LED swap in all the switches, gauge cluster, and the four pack in the entire vehicle (except radio which is next). While I took everything apart I used creektrack@yahoo.com referenced in the first post to swap the LEDs for me. He was very quick by doing everything the day he got the package and the next morning mailing it back out. I took lots of pics for reference on reinstall and you just have to take it slow and be VERY easy with the parts. I have installed everything and looks and works perfect. I highly recommend him for a simple fast solution. I can do electrical and mechanical, but more precise work like circuit boards I will just leave to the more steady hand lol. Here are some pics of the finished work.

Thanks. The dash ABL was pretty easy. Once I get radio done it will all be red and white. Much better than the blue it came with.

I think there's a demon in your tach. You should get that taken care of.

Ok, I WAS joking about that, but I thought that red image that looks like a face reminded me of something. Then I remembered! After leaving a concert one night, I got in my car and looked through the door window....and....saw that face. I took a picture and just found it on my phone.

Great...our Camaro's are haunted.

Hey all -- absolutely love this mod! If I wanted to have the red ring and everything else white (including the DIC) like pictured previously, how many red LEDs do I need compared to the white LEDs? And just to make sure, it's all PLCC-2s?

You would need 8 red LEDs. Those make up the 'halo' when you turn the ignition on, but don't yet start the car. See pic:

To have everything white, you'd need a total of 19 LEDs.
14 on the circuit board
5 for the DIC

and yes, they are all the PLCC-2 type LEDs.

Good Information! Very informative thread. I'm thinking of just doing the rings red.

They are all just LEDs. I, personally didn't want to change their colors or anything, but it could be done with a simple LED swap.

Aren't you a little worried that maybe your work might fail? I mean not saying this isn't a sweet thread and I want to try it. I just want to know if a warning light comes on. I know they are supposed to last 100k hours but I would rather not take the chances. As long as I can pull the one for my seatbelt I think I will be happy and thanks for this thread so now I can figure it out.

I can't worry about everything, plus, like I mentioned, I actually did NOT change any of the warning lights. I only changed the Ice blue LEDs; the halo ring that comes on when you turn your ignition switch on, and the ones that light up the numbers on the speed and tach gauges and the ones that light up the cold/hot and empty/full gauges. That's all.

Is it possible to change the color of the blinker indicators?? Or do they have a green tint in the arrow?

They are green leds...all of the indicator lights are just leds of that color, no tinting...
