Battery Saver message between the gauges

I was sitting in the car while idling in front of my house finishing a conference call for work about 10 minutes, when i saw this message pop up "Battery Saver Active". any idea what this is? I'm concerned because i just put in the SLP under drive pulley 2 weeks ago.

It comes up when your car has been sitting inoperative for extended periods of time. It should shut off when you run your car. You will also find your time and date off on your clock.

Sounds like you may want to have the battery and/or Alternator checked. This is straight out of the owners manual....

Battery Voltage and
Charging Messages
BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE
This message displays when
the vehicle has detected that the
battery voltage is dropping beyond
a reasonable point. The battery
saver system starts reducing certain
features of the vehicle that you may
be able to notice. At the point that
features are disabled, this message
is displayed. It means that the
vehicle is trying to save the charge
in the battery. Turn off unnecessary
accessories to allow the battery to
recharge.

Gotta love the manual.

Amazing what wealth of knowledge is in there!

It's the under-drive pulley.

This, it comes up when your car is in the on position and not running. It is suppose to keep your battery from going dead.

His car was idling. It's the pulley. All should be ok when you drive off and things start spinning faster.

I suggest not idling for over 10 minutes for many reasons.

I'll probably start seeing this in Nov. when I stop driving my vert. Though plan to run a trickle charger.

Send a message via AIM to DietCoke
If you haven't raised your idle from the factory 550, then you'll get that with an underdrive. My car idles at 850, most cammed cars idle at around 800, so the pulley isnt an issue.

It means you need to take off the underdrive pulley What did SLP tell you? Historically it means you are drawing more demand than the alt is putting out.

I get this message when i am washing my car with the stereo on. I guess thats the reason it comes on cuz the stereo is on for a long time. I just ignore it, turn off the stereo when done and when I use it again nothing comes on anymore.

Exactly, that is what the sure start thing will fix. If the voltage were to drop below 11.8 it would just auto disconnect. Then you can use the remove to reenergize or the bypass
