Exclamation GM Warranty During Restructuring

Statement: GM vehicle warranty coverage is safe and sound, and GM dealerships remain open for sales and service. GM values its customers and we appreciate their loyalty. We are more committed than ever to making every car and truck we build a winner and to providing the best ownership experience in the industry. What happens to my warranty as you restructure? Absolutely nothing. There is no change to the warranty. General Motors would like its millions of current and future customers to know one thing: GM's warranty coverage is absolutely safe and sound, now and well into the future, no matter what the GM make or model. The quality of our products is the bedrock of our business. GM has been in business for 100 years and we’re planning to be in business for the next 100 years and beyond. We've always taken care of our customers and stood behind our products -- and we will continue to do so. As a reminder, current and new GM customers should know the following about our vehicle warranty coverage (*except Saab, see section related to Saab):
 GM offers 100,000 Mile / 5 Year Powertrain Limited Warranty, which we believe is the industry's best overall coverage.
 There are no fees and no deductibles.
 The warranty is transferable from owner to owner.
 GM's warranty covers more than 900 parts, which is more than any manufacturer.
 In addition to the warranty, our coverage includes roadside assistance and courtesy vehicle transportation.

Great post

Answered my warranty question before I even asked! Thanks!

Although I wasn't too concerned about restructure and level of service.

Did they declare or are leaning towards bankruptcy? Is that what you mean by restructuring?

I believe this is in the "event of..."

Last I heard, they sent back a payment, or declined one...

So basically you are saying GM is going to file chapter 11 to reorganize. BUt this will not hurt the camaro production or warranty?

Nope. There are no plans to file for bankruptcy. Just potential scenarios.

Ever since GM accepted that loan from the gov't, there's been a lot in the news about GM "restructuring": that's what they're actively doing, after all. Obviously, this tells folks that they are changing policies, and revamping parts of the company....Perhaps some people out there believe they are in Chapter 11 right now...

This is just a reassurance to potential, and past buyers: "No matter what you think is going on, your warranty from us is S.A.F.E"

So the Camaro comes with a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty?

Id assume thats powertrain...

What kind of Warranty does the Camaro get?

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

IMO this is not 'sticky' worthy...we don't even know the source of the statement (not that I doubt Scotty ) But the statement is just 'speculative' at this point.

It freaked me out a bit as I immediately went and checked my stock and then began looking for the news of GM's 'restructuring' and was left a bit confused....

I do give GM credit for making that kind of a statement. Trying to keep GM customers in the loop is definitely a step in the right direction!

Thanks Scotty! I had a friend bash me today for ordering a Camaro... all my other friends said F&%^$()G SWEET!! He said 426HP is weak... the BMW M3 puts out 420 (really it is only 414) and blah blah.. just a lot of I then informed him of the facts... He said great job what are you going to do when they go out of business... I said they won't... I wish I had this post to show him... He is a Japanese and European car lover... we never agree on the same cars... other than the GTR.

Anyway Thanks for the post.

To all, I posted a article a while back about the "what if" if GM did file, about how it could be a good thing... I hope they can work it out with out having to but if not, either way I believe GM will be here for another 100 YEARS and beyond!

Am I missing something here, maybe an inside joke perhaps ?

OK. Now that we've covered that, can I get a 3/4 ton Suburban with a Big Block or a Diesel please?

Original purchaser only. Non transferable. Most people will ditch them in 3 years or less.
