How about a pic of the engine?

If it's a stock RS V8, it's a 305 w/throttle body injection.

Congrats on your Camaro purchase, and welcome!

If you can, pull the air filter off and take another picture. Or, look to see if there are fuel injectors under it.

It looks like a small block V8 but I can only see six yellow spark plug wires. But it looks like there may be a couple black wires there too its kinda hard to tell. One thing for sure is that its not stock. My guess would be that someone took the TBI fuel injected motor out and replaced it with a carb fed small block. The intake manifold is not the stock TBI unit that came with it. I had a 1991 RS camaro and remember the 5.0 liter motor that was in it well. Below is a picture of my RS (the green one) and my buddys RS shortly after we bought them back in 1991.

the air filter on your car is that huge metal disc on top of your engine (I call It a pie pan) that has Edelbrock logo

Yup, definitely not the stock engine. Time to start looking up casting numbers.

I wouldn't say that the engine is definately not stock. The valve covers are centerbolt.
I could easily be that someone converted the TBI engine to carb. I have seen that before. It gets rid of the electronics and makes things simpler. It also allows more control in the tuning of the engine.
From that picture, it does look possible that someone did what I said. But to be sure, you'd need to find the casting numbers.

Actually, on mine I replaced the stock snorkel-style air cleaner with a K&N unit that looks a lot like this one. From looking at mine you'd think it was carbureted, but it is the stock TBI system under the air cleaner. That could be what was done here. But, my intake runners are not orange, they're black...makes one wonder...

thats def. a stock 305 tbi with the same aircleaner i threw on mine, somebody just painted the intake, i had a buddy paint his tpi unit to match the car, but yes that is a stock 305 tbi with an edlebrock aircleaner shoved on top, good buy though, very easy motors to work on and clean up very nicely, and you already have the chrome valve covers, just be careful of the seals leaking under the valve covers, people tend to bend them a little when installing them.

thats the stock TBI and try to change the radiator hose there is a small gap between it and the alterenator fan you dont want the fan to cut the hose and spray water everywhere in your engine bay
