So what would you do?

My wife and I went and looked at 2011 SRX caddies over the weekend. The wife fell in love with them and really wants one. However, I think we are going to wait for the 2012 since it has the more powerfull engine in it.

While there I sat in a 2011 CTSV coupe. Wow was it ever nice on the inside. Power and luxury at the same time.

Now I'm a little confused about what to do. I have been dreaming about the ZL1 and before that the possibility of a Z28 since I got my SS 2 years ago. As a result I have been planning on trading the SS for a ZL1 whenever they came out. Also, my life has changed since I bought the SS. I have a 7 month old that needs a place to sit and a 6 year old as well. Them fitting in the Z might be a little hard to do. My wife has already said to get what I want to get whether it is a ZL, CTSV or a M3 or spaceship, she doesn't care

So, I'm thinking I need to put my Z dream to rest and start planning on a CTSV sedan. But it is going through a redesign in a couple years and I don't want to buy a car to have it feel outdated in a year or so. This just acts to further complicate my decision.

I haven't completely made up my mind yet but i can't I help but feel a little heart broken if I don't go with the ZL1. Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I too have thought about a CTS-V sedan but, I'm back to the ZL1. Rented a Camaro Coupe while on vacation. My 12 and 9 year old can't wait for the ZL1. They sat in the back without complaints. So ZL1 it is.

I was in the same boat. I recently totaled my 2011 SS. I was in the market for a CTS-V coupe or sedan but at the end of the day, I missed my Camaro. SO ZL1 it is. Plus, the ZL1 should be somewhere around 55,000 (give or take a couple grand). The CTS-v is around 75,000-78,000. If you go with the Z, you can save ATLEAST 20,000 and get yourself a used four-door (probably a 2009 or 2010 with great mileage on Autotrader).

SS - I just rented a CTS coupe for a week, I tried to rent a V6 Camaro but there were none left. The Camaro would have been tight for the three of us. The Caddy was great! It handled like a dream, very quiet and the heat and cooled seats were wonderful, especially on long drives. The CTS-V would be the best of of both worlds. The power and handling of a ZL1 and the comfort of a great Caddy. My only advise would be to get the four door instead of the coupe. The coupe backseat really was a pain to get in and out of and a baby seat I can tell you would be worse, if not impossible. In three years you might not need the baby seat as much as you need it now. I say, CTS-V Sedan for a very happy win.

Maybe sell your SS so you can get more money out of it and then spend half that money on a 2005 silverado or some type of truck for bad weather days and when you might have to carry more than two passengers and then spend the other half of the money on a ZL1.
