Well, looks like it's the hanger bearing that is going out.

Starting a new thread with 'cause of failure' questions.

I'm personally thinking it's something to do with the driveshaft carrier bearing or u-joints at the center section...

Not being there it's really hard to tell though... Obviously it's hard even if you are there...
Crap, I knew we should have started a poll, I could have won a ride in a car with square wheels...

Hello,
Sorry for my English but it is not my native language.
I took a bit about because I have a 2010 Camaro 1SS in France and I have the same noise as you. As I understand the problem is propshaft bearing in red in the picture.

What have you done, given the same as the original?

My car is completely original.

I may be a bit more fortunate than you.

Being here in the states, I was able to find a slightly used driveshaft to swap out. Haven't swapped it yet, but I'll be doing it as soon as the shaft gets here. That bearing has to be pressed out and back in. Was going to cost the same to fix as getting a whole replacement and the replacement I can swap myself.

But you are right, that's EXACTLY the noise. That sounds identical. I'm getting a shaft for 250.00. New ones are around 550.00 from GM.

If you can find a shop to press the bearing off and press a new one on then it will still cost around the same. A brand new one you can just do yourself.

Or, take the shaft off and take it yourself to a shop to do just the bearing. Then put it back on the car yourself. That could save you some money.

OR, if you have the right press, you can do it yourself just buy the bearing.

So your car is all stock?

So in basically, I found it cheaper and easier to just buy a whole driveshaft and slap it in.

yes my camaro is stock. Finally I almost just a K & N kit and a Borla

It is not good news for me because the price of the piece here will be much greater with the customs taxes and transportation.

You think I can ride like that for a while?

For a while yes. But eventualy it will be a problem. You'll know it before it completely fails though. Swapping the bearing might be a better option. BUT, if yours is still all original then it should be covered under your warranty.

In fact chevrolet always find an excuse not to ultimately run the warranty, as I understand it for you because the car has too much power relative to the origin. They do not want me to support the car as it comes from America. I think it's just pathetic, the car is sold by Chevrolet, but if you leave after paying the original warranty that falls just an excuse to not do their job. My car has just 16,250 Mi problems and already it's not normal ...

I really like the camaro but given the bad faith shown by chevrolet I do not think that I would resume one day. And if I am asked my opinion I would advise against buying this car.

That's really too bad.

So you have tried to get them to replace the shaft? Or fix it at least?
