That could weigh on your decision now.

I spent a LOT of time researching exhaust, and I've heard both the Borlas (and both axle and Cat) in person... Not the SLP tho...

Anyway- the S-Type has the best TONE... deep, refined and very clean- but it's QUIET... idle is comparable to stock. I rode in one for 2 hrs, hwy speeds and didn't notice any drone. Now- if you add headers- that's definitely the way to go! Killer sound WITH volume! Makes me regret my Magnaflow.

ATAK has the most aggressive tone, and it's fairly loud. It's got a distinct tone, I definitely recommend you hear it in person before buying... it's a great sound- if that's the sound you're looking for. Video's do it no justice.

Lot's of ppl revert to the Corsa for drone issues... Solo Performance also has no drone with their J-Pipe system... don't know much about them, but I have ridden extensively in a Corsa... I think it's even quieter than the S-Type. All systems open up under WOT, so it's an individual choice, but for me, I like people to hear that deep rumble at a stop light and anticipate my take off at the green... with the S Type and especially a Corsa... no ones going to notice the sound until you punch it.

Happy Birthday! Don't be shy to ask when it comes to exhaust, but make sure that YOU know what you're looking for because everyone has different taste.

I have the borla s axleback, great sound, low rumble at idle and plenty of growl at wot. On my l99 there is no drone criusing down the hwy. What I hear is the afm cycling at speeds of 40 or less, it is not a drone. More like engine going between 4 cylinder and 8 cylinder. The factory oem mufflers were doing the same thing, just less noticeable. You would really like the Borla S sound. Just my 2 cents.

Thank you for the information! I agree with you, but I want my Camaro to sound like a muscle car even at idle, not just under WOT, without sounding like a ricer. To me, the ATAK (so far) is perfect with the S-type a very close second in terms of axlebacks .

That's precisely the sound I want - MUSCLE! It seems the ATAK cat-back has that. It would still be a lot easier if I wasn't so indecisive! LOL

How would the ATAK cat-back sound with a CAI or K&N? And which is best would you think?

Anyone!? Thanks!

im probably gunna be in the minority here....so heres what I think, Borla is a great company with great quality. What I dont really like on the Borla system for our cars is the tips, they just look a lil funny. And the sound of them is ok but im not crazy about it. I prefer a more hollow tuned sound if that makes sense. Of the set ups you have listed on here I would go SLP over Borla. But at the end of the day get what you think sounds best, most companies are makin a pretty solid product especially the ones listed. GOOD LUCK and ENJOY!

SLP is so sleek and I do agree with you. If they didn't have the ATAK I would go LMII right away because square tips + GFX = hawt.

Im leaning towards the SOLO and ATAK catback systems, but I need to hear them in person before I purchase. Theres a meet in Austin this weekend, hopefully Ill get to hear some good exhausts systems to help me choose!

ATAK is loud under WOT AND idle. If you have headers planned in the future, go Stinger.

SOLO will give you a nice deep muscle car tone under WOT while making it a sleeper with a quiet idle.

Out of those two, Solo will have no drone while ATAK will have a tad.

Have you considered the stainless retro system?

Also, if you have a L99 remember that these catback systems remove the resonators and with that AFM gives you a big smack in the face.

Stainless Retro system?? Ill have to look them up.

I looked into having a local pipe bender run me some 2.5 pipes with a cross pipe and 2 chambered flowmasters, the total price was going to be around 500 bucks, and I figure I can get a mandrel bent tested cat-back system for around the same number. Since its a convertible I have slightly less room, its an LS3, so no AFM(not sure why it matters though, does AFM not compensate?). Im not crazy about bolting a exhaust system on, Im a fan of welding, but I figure Id give it a try.

Im sure out of all the camaros that will be in Austin this weekend, Ill hear one that sounds "right" and just mimick their system.
