Rear View Camera

So in playing with the competition's car builder (no worries, I don't think I'd ever buy a Mustang), I noticed that Ford's giving the option of the rear view camera that my G35 has on the 2010 Mustang. I've found it to be spoiling, but extremely helpful. Especially while parallel parking. I kind of wish that GM had this as an option on the Camaro, but do you think they may add it as an option? If they add it, would it even be possible to fit into a 2010? I kind of don't think so, given the dash and a lack of video screen.

Thoughts?

Well, it doesn't have to necessarily have a video screen on the dash. I have seen some (in Fords) that have a small screen in the rearview mirror. It requires a slightly larger rearview mirror, but it isn't too bad. There are also aftermarket options also like this one -

As for if GM will offer either option ->

They will be adding the rear parking assist sensors, but I'm not sure a camera...

I can't see myself needing something like that, but damn that is pretty cool. Does it come with the same back seat occupants?

OH NO! Here we go

I think these things are cool but I don't want them anywhere near my Camaro. That stuff belongs on an SUV w/ good reason, but a Camaro....really?

but from what the reviews are saying the c pillars makes it really hard to see, with that being it would help with the blind spots. not saying i would buy it or anything, the mustang might have that same problems and a camera was a way to somewhat fix that.

You realize that they only engage when backing up, right? Like I said, they're most helpful when parallel parking.

For me, I wouldn't want or need it. I think it'd be cool to have as an option for those that do want it. I don't really think visability is going to be too much less than the last generation so I think I can make due. Personally, I like the idea these conveniences, but I don't like how they're grouped together with other features. Anyways, I'd vote to have it as an option; I don't think it'll be seen within the next few years though. I don't think GM is going to have many significant changes to these cars for a little while now, so rag-top withstanding (maybe Z28 in a few years) I don't expect we're going to see much in the way of change - okay, maybe ABL.

GM has the same technology in the Traverse...

Two possible explanations:
1. He's driving backwards.
2. It is rush hour and the cars backed up behind him are driving backwards.

I did notice that, but figured the disclaimer "video images simulated" covered it.

I'd love to have the backup sensor technology in the Camaro. It'd be nice it could be added on later on when it becomes available.

Backup sensors or camera

I too would like some kind of backup sensor or camera. I once backed into a short steel piller. It was one of four that had been placed around a light pole to keep from being hit. I could see the pole, but the steel piller was just about bumper height and I couldn't see it out the back window in a car with better visibility then the Camaro. My brother had backup sensors added to his honda after he bought it, so that may be an option for the Camaro.

There are aftermarket sensors that can be added. I had an SUV that we were thinking about having them added to. I forget the exact price, but I was pleasantly surprised with how cheap it was. Something like $250 for 4 sensors I think.

One thing cool about the rear view camera in the Mustang: when you go from reverse to a forward gear the camera stays on for a few seconds. You can watch your own burnout!

Yea, it's cool in the Traverse and the Tahoe and such, but not in the Camaro. It's called turning your head people...

Here's my opinion on this....... I don't need a damn camera to help me park. That's what mirrors are for. If you cannot parallel park without use of a camera, you should not have a license imo.

It's also nice if you enjoy hearing your girlfriend/wife complain about your driving. But now instead of just hearing, "Be careful for the car in front of you", you'll also hear, "You're too close to the car behind you!!!"

Another thought if you need to back up, just floor it and do a 180
