REMOVE THE HURST SHIFTER FROM YOUR ORDER!!!!

Mods, I think this deserves a sticky.

If you have the hurst shifter currently on your order, I would highly recommend that you remove it. There are a couple people who have had their orders delayed already because it was still on there.

I would recommend that anyone who even had it on their order double check with your dealer and make sure it is not on there any more. Else, you are risking having your order delayed.

My dealer swears upon all that is holy that all Hursts were "automatically" pulled from "their allocations" to ensure there are no delays. They have an allocation of 8, I'm #5, and they have already placed orders for 3, previously with Hursts, with "no rejects." He also stated they are going to be ordering the other 5 within the next 3 weeks.

Is the ordering system removing them, as I think he might be suggesting, or is my dealer an idiot?

I removed Hurst and I went from 1100 to 2500 in a week - maybe just lucky?

I'm leaving mine on. I ordered from a small dealer #6 out of 7 so I think I have time to wait for it to come off constraint.

My dealer didn't have a problem removing it, but I had them print out a copy of my order from Workbench just to double check. Probably most dealers won't have a problem, but some may.

Do you not understand the words coming out of my mouth? Orders are going to get pulled faster than people expect. If you want to avoid yours getting delayed, then REMOVE the Hurst shifter.

Right on, Pete. Scotty had the following for us back on Feb. 19th:

The TRUTH about the HURST SHIFTER OPTION ANNOUNCMENT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is the response I just received about the HURST SHORT SHIFTER option:

Just the option will be removed from the order that are already on hand (Event 3000 or greater). The good news is all these orders are isolated at this point.

Dealer and customers will have to decide how to handle the orders that have allocation this week. They will either need to remove the Hurst Shifter LPO and have the order placed, or leave the LPO on for now, and wait until the RPO is introduced.

When? That's what we are working on now. Hope to announce specific availability and RPO code in the coming weeks. If all goes well, we should have this resolved very shortly -- weeks not months.

Bottom line: The Hurst Shifter was original a dealer installed accessory, and will continue to be a dealer installed accessory -- just not one that will appear on the window label and maybe a few weeks late. The new factory installed Hurst shifter will be identical to the dealer installed part.

We are disappointed we will not have it ready for the March 16, 2009 SORP, but we want to make sure we could integrate a high demand feature without disrupting production.

necroposting:
The act of posting in a forum thread that is too old to matter any more, or has served it's purpose. Usually by new, inexperienced members of the board.

No, Pete, you're demeaning your thread by calling it that. This is not irrelevant if new folks have missed the information and, as a result, are now having problems with their orders. With the number of members we have here now, it's simply too difficult for everyone to dig up all the volumes of past facts that are now long buried. Reminders such as this are quite relevant, even important.

Buddy, pal, you do know that Q3 runs almost to the end of September, and the cold winds could be a howling and the snows a blowing by the time you get your Hurst equipped car? Oh....I know....your way or the highway. Good luck!

I wonder what fbodfather has to say about the Hurst option. I could certainly be wrong, but I don't recall too many comments from him on this particular issue. Perhaps there's something he knows but won't say (he's good at that ), or there's really nothing going on at the moment...

And as for me, I'm keeping it on for now. I trust my dealer will let me know when they're ready to submit my order for production, and at that time, we'll determine if I still need to remove the Hurst for my order to go through.
