Thoughts on this deal for ZL1

A dealer I've been talking to has offered me the following:

2013 ZL1 MSRP $59,060
Sale price $48,895
Trade in for my 2011 2LT $18895
GM Card Credits $1600

Total $28,400 + TTL

I think this is too much. Based on what blue book value is for a 1500 mile 2013 ZL1 (this one is brand new, but it's also 2 years old) I am offering $25k.

Thoughts?

Nice upgrade and a solid trade in price. I like it.

I would agree it is a pretty good deal but I told them I was sticking to my offer. They've had the car sitting for quite a while (it is a 2013 after all), and winter is coming. It will be 40 degrees here tonight. If they don't sell the car in the next couple of weeks, they won't be selling it until March-April at the earliest. I fail to see that carrying the car for another 5-6 months is worth $3400 to them, plus at that point in time there will be leftover 2014's for basically the same price and the 2016's will be out, driving the price down further.

2013 is a very desirable year. Maybe he'll meet you in the middle. Either way pretty good deal.

Hey, you did your homework and made them a teaser offer. If I was that dealer, I'd make a counter offer to test your resolve. Don't expect them to come off another $3500 though. Then they'd have to work at selling your trade.

Just to show you where a dealer makes their money...

My dealer made $900 selling me a car that listed at $47,770. They made $3000 reselling my $14,160 trade-in within 30 days, and I got a good KBB price.
