Lightbulb Gas Milage Build?

When modding a car, its usually done for power/looks. Has anyone tried doing a build on the v6 to squeeze as much gas mileage out of it as possible? If done right, this can prove how worthless so called "green" vehicles are. Any suggestions?

imo these cars get great gas mileage considering the horse power... if your not buying aftermarket for power than buy for weight reduction, this should give you better gas mileage

I recently got 29 mpg coming back from DC and I have 420 rwhp. I think that is amazing gas mileage.

I would assume that with a cold air intake, headers, and lighter cat-back exhaust, I would gain both power and gas mileage. As for why I would want a fast car thats good on gas and breaks necks? Bragging rights? I also use my Camaro as a daily driver. With gas prices rising, this build sounds better and better.

I suppose if you added full bolt ons onto a V6 car and had someone like Vince at Trifecta work you up a conservative fuel saving tune it could be done.

Your number one stop should be your driving habits and wheel/tire set up. The stock rims are heavy as well as the entire exhaust system.

I get 23 mpgs around town and have hit 33mpg trip average on the highway. Rotofab CAI and MRT 2.0 is all I have done. Turbocharging a small engine is the way to get fuel economy. My supra averaged 27 mpgs on the highway and I was making over 700 rwhp.

Yes but that dropped to 5 mpg when boost was over 15psi.

Ok. But I usually stayed out of boost. It was a daily driver. And I played around for a little bit and it did get down to 6.2 mpgs. Lol. But generally I could average pretty good mpgs with such a crazy amount of power.

There's a guy on here that installed a dual cone CAI, and had flowmasters on his V6 was getting 38 MPG.
Wish I could find the post.

I found the post. I think his computer was mis calculating the MPG. The best way to get fuel efficiency from air is to use cold air since colder air has more oxygen than hot air. His intakes are not shielded so it is sucking in hot air from the engine compartment. I think the best intake for my build would be a varram Intake or a Injen.
