Question McLeod RXT users come inside please.

I installed the RXT in my Camaro. So far I have about 250 easy miles on it. The clutch has a lot of shudder on easy take offs from a dead stop. It shakes the whole car. No issues when changing gears. I know it's designed to hold a lot of power, but every review I read said it drives like stock. Anyone have this issue? Does it get better after time?

Also, most of the time, the pedal doesn't return up smoothly after it's pressed when changing gears. It does come up, but has spot where it seems to catch. I've bled and bled and bled this thing. I installed a Tick Performance speed bleeder while everything was apart and also separated the reservoir. The speed bleeder seemed to be letting air in unless I closed it each time which is not how it's supposed to work. Does this sound like air is still in the system?

Thanks for the help.

The shudder you describe is popularly known as clutch chatter, and is common while a clutch is breaking in. As long as you follow the proper break in procedure, the clutch will get much, much better to drive.

Our SPEEDbleeder Line has a check valve in the end which prevents air from re-entering the system. When you're ready to bleed, just loosen the fitting at the end of your line slightly and pump the pedal (making sure to keep your fluid reservoir full) until air no longer comes out. The pedal should return smoothly once the system is properly bled.

Keep us posted!

I have run the RXT and have had zero of the issues you are describing. Sounds like something is off as I have run several other clutches and they were all junk but once I went to the RXT it was nothing but perfect. Once installed it was very smooth, better feel and no slipping or chattering like others.

The clutch has smoothed out quite a bit. Still shakes every once in awhile when taking off slowly from a complete stop, but not like it was. I always thought when people referred to chatter, they were talking about a noise. That's why I referred to it as shudder. No noise, just lots of shaking. My luck is horrible, so if something can go wrong, most likely it will.

Well, my car has been leaking some oil. Two different dealerships told me it was the rear main, but they couldn't fix it because it's supercharged. So, I pulled the trans again. I figured I'd see oil everywhere, but it looks pretty dry. The clutch and flywheel appear to me to have excessive wear. I probably have around 1500 miles on them.

The only hard driving it's had was at the LS Fest. I did some autocrossing and took it down the dragstrip twice. Opinions?

Those hot spots don't look good.

I had an RXT In my Mustang (Twin turbo) and only experienced shudder when I let the rpm fall too low.

They don't like low rpm/high load situations and are shameless about letting you know.

Send McLeod those pics. Something isn't right, unless you do 50 burn outs an hour.

Hard to say without seeing them in person but it looks like the drag racers clutches I do that didn't have a proper 800 mile break in.Check the floater plate to make sure it didn't warp.

I received this response from McLeod this morning

If it still chatters after 1500 miles you'll need to take it out and send it back. The wear looks normal but the marcel may be flat causing chatter.

That have awesome customer service.

I'm surprised those hot spots are considered normal, though I'm no expert.

Good to hear. Mine's on the way back to McLeod to be checked out. $61 to ship it. Ouch.

does it make sense, when upgrading the clutch also change the throwout bearing?

I'm on my 2nd McLeod RXT. Same issue with it as my first. It chatters like crazy on a soft launch. Hard to drive it slow around town.
