I have been told this from another.. I just hope the new ZL1 doesnt have the problem I might even go with the auto for a more consistant launch anyway. Thank you for the info.

The standards are the only ones that are going to have launch control for drg racing to get the same launch every time. Check out the new videos they are pretty impressive.

If we compare # of gt500's on the street to lower end mustangs, I'd say we aren't going to see many ZL1's around. In Texas, where Camaros have sold like crazy, I literally see 5-6X more mustangs on the road, yet hardly ever see the gt500's.

Slim to nil.

There will probably be 5 or 6 SS's sold for every 1 ZL1 sold, but that doesn't take into account the tens of thousands of SS's sold already.

That said ... so what if you own a car that others obviously like? If you want to be different, there are endless options to personalize your Camaro. One of the things I noticed at the Fest was that out of the hundreds of cars there, each one still seemed to be unique in some way.

There are two videos. To see the one about Launch Control, hit the arrow on the right and click the "play" button superimposed on the front-view of the ZL1.

So i official found out that there is going to be a very limited amount of ZL1's!!!! not lying, not a rumor. This is from GM itself. There's only one dealership in the state of Virginia that will get a ZL1, only one! for the whole entire year of 2012!!! Sorry to bust everyones bubble, but there's not going to be many made!! Sorry, spread the word! Also heard from GM that the first ZL1's to go out will be limited edition. Dont know if that will happen though.

This is the first time I have heard anything about limited production. In fact some of the top Execs at Chevrolet and GM have stated that they will make as many ZL1's as will sell. The hope is this information is not correct as many many people seem to be interested in this car. The question would be who from GM stated this and where did you find this information?

Rumors such as this without a specific source are meaningless. The ZL1 is not a limited edition vehicle.

The official statement regarding ZL1 production from Camaro Marketing Manager, John Fitz is that Chevrolet "will do everything to match the market demand" for the ZL1.

That doesn't mean that initial production availability may not be somewhat limited to due production line ramp up and supplier parts availability issues. However, after the initial production issues are resolved, ZL1s should be available to all who want one who have a little diligence and patience.

3600 lbs with a driver seems awfully light. My SS shipping weight was 3794 lbs. Add a driver and supercharger and you should be well over 4000 lbs.

I think we're going to see around 4000-4100. I hope it's the lesser of course

most parts true. I dont like rumors, i like cold hard facts. If i stated the source of my information and it ended up being true, than my chances of getting that one ZL1 at that dealership just went down. I've talked to a manager that works in GM for 16 years, he was assuring that from what he heard the ZL1's were going to be hard to get, every other big dealerships in the states will get one, maybe two in a year if there lucky. He also said that he was sure there will be a limited edition FIRST.

Words have meaning and they need to be parsed carefully.

The official public statement from the Camaro Marketing Manager was that Chevrolet will attempt to meet market demand for the ZL1. That statement is at odds with an unnamed "manager who works in GM for 16 years" stating that he heard that the ZL1 will a "limited edition."

John Fitz's statement is not at odds, however, with the availability of the initial production of the ZL1 being limited (due to production start up related issues).

A "limited edition" and initial availability being limited are two very different things.

Keep in mind that with a January 2012 start of production for the 2012 ZL1, there will only be about six months of production of the 2012 ZL1, which will limit production for the 2012 model year compared to the 2013 and later model years, which will have a full year's production run.
