ZL1 Order

Dealer called me today from Roger Dean in West Palm Beach and asked me to come in and place my order. He explained to me if his allotment is 2 and I am number three then I am out of luck. I think we all need to understand this important fact, it is all about the allocation numbers. If you are on the list and they have the numbers then you get one,,,,,,,go place your order now if your dealer gives you that option. Simple.

That's good info. Does he know options and all that or does he essentially just want money down at this point?

Something tells me in the next 12 days there are going to be a LOT of dealers calling a lot of people... not just one or two people...

This post is 50/50 GREAT information and

THERE IS NO "LIST". It's all about money and timing. You want the car... Do these three simple things:

1. Call the dealers on the 24th to find how many they are getting and when. also find out if there is a mark up.
2. Be at whatever dealer you find that you want to deal with WHEN THEY OPEN on the 29th.
3. Take cash, be prepared to depart with some of it.

Let all the fools who think bc they are on some magic list and sleep in be the ones who are complaining when they miss out. This is early 2009 all over. Ask some of those guys how their "list" worked out.

Even if your on some list, don't think for a second that if I walked in 9:00 on the 29th with cash they would tell me no because so and so is supposedly coming in bc he's on the "list" not going to happen, my order is going in.

Something else to think about... How many are on more than one "list"? Do you plan to follow thru and buy ALL those cars? NO, you'll buy one and the others are what... Just supposed to turn people away??? Get real on the lists... They are nothing more than words on paper!

1 more week... until then, nothing is a for sure!

Not saying I'm any less prone to being screwed over, but that's what my $500 deposit was for. At least I have a receipt stating what number I am on the list and a promised MSRP deal for the ZL1. That money will be applied to the order.

Then again, my dealer seemed to have forgot that the ZL1 even existed last week when I stopped in.

Believe me, I'll be there bright and early on the 29th.

Talked to my salesman today. He said to come in Thursday, as He will have options from GM on Thursday, so I can spec my order.

I see on the Chevrolet website that all chevrolets except the volt are eligible for the credit union discount and/or the retired military preferred price. Can you combine these? What about the USAA discount? It obviously applies to the ZR1, do you think it will apply to the ZL1? I was just wondering if anyone knew...

Thanks!

Is it obvious?

Seeing how nothing is released yet, how is it "obvious"?

Starting to look like I'm not getting one. Talked to a couple dealerships and they're going to try to milk them for all they can get and I refuse to pay any markup.

I spoke to my dealer. He has heard nothing of the 20th update. However, he is aware about the 24th allocation date, the 29th order info date, and the Nov 3, final order aceptance date. Based on my understanding, orders are accepted into their system on Thursdays. Thats it so far. I will be seeing them on the 24th. Some dealers are great. Some just suck. My dad and uncle were in the car business since 1959. I am well aware how this crap works!

If all this goes south, I will just build my own!

The Internet Sales gal over at Ferman Chevrolet in Brandon/Tampa has a list for about 9 people. She laughed and said they may get 2 to 4 cars......i really didnt see how that was humorous.....the others in the Tampa Bay area are all clueless.

Actually, I believe there are slightly over 3,000 Chevrolet dealerships in the United States. General Motors as a whole has just over 5,000 total dealerships in the U.S.

yes, for chevy i think it was around 3800 or something...Wrote it down somewhere...but
less than 4,000 but more than ONE and less than 5000 no doubt.
Not my main focal point in my reply...
Main point was that he call around and not give up as there are going to be many people checking in with several dealerships before this is all over with I would imagine.

just got off the phone with my dad who owns a chevy dealership and he told me that he has been in talk with main gm hq and has been put on the list of dealerships recieving the zl1 in east texas. he was also given a number of zl1's that will be avaliable for his dealership to order and have sent to his lot. he also sent me the email from him and the direct gm hq.
