I intend to have some track time, both 1/4 mile and road course. I am torn between the ZL1 and a 'Vette.

I'll take the car to the track, but I'm going to wait for BMR to have a look at it to see if they will offer parts to help out with launching the car. I love their parts on my SS right now, I'm guessing they will have something up their sleeves for the ZL-1

... Blufin. My mentor who taught me the intricacies of mechanics and engine building back in the day (he worked in a Chevy dealership and raced a SS 409) said basically about breaking an engine in....if it's put together correctly don't worry about breaking it in...drive it like you intend on using it. The LSA has a forged crank, and more importantly it's reciprocating assembly is balanced< I read that in literature on this board>. All things being equal, let it rip...!

What I didn't mention was I already did pulley swap and tune on my car, so I am close to those numbers at the wheels.

Not trying to cut the car down, I really think it would be a good race between the 2 at the track and road course.

I think it's going to be fun to watch the GT500 and ZL1 go at it, but I'm afraid that Ford engineers are going to have to play catch up with their car to compete on the road course tracks.

You forgot to account for the slow reaction time of Rustang drivers!

I would think it should be a requirement that these cars see the track a minimum number of times a year. Doesn't matter which track. It could be circle, drag, auto-cross... hell, drift it.. But, people that have no interest in racing and only want to bring it to shows shouldn't be allowed to buy a car like this.. It makes the rest of us look bad. You want a show car, buy something else.

..you said.." people that have no interest in racing and only want to bring it to shows shouldn't be allowed to buy a car like this.." What did you mean by that? And why would that be concerning?
When you say "it makes the rest of us look bad" who are you referring to "us" as? And how could that make one look bad? And in this statement you said.. "You want a show car, buy something else", could you elaborate your reasoning on that please???
