Did something wrong and doing something wrong. Pfadt sway and BC coilover over instal

Remind me never to tackle a job like this late at night. I tried to avoid the heat that way, but I forgot rest is equally if not more important than trying to cool.

Problem one is that I can't snake the stock sway bar out. I dont have a saw and I'm determined to get it out without having to get a saw. Can I get a torch and burn the clamps? If those were off it would be cake to snake out. I tried to be patient...like an hour patient but no luck. Was worried about screwing up the hoses below.

Ok below are some pics. Problem two is... The spring top bolt is protruding through too high. I read that OE rubber will protrude about 1/4" but the bolt is the problem.

The two washers in the lower pic where the ones I used on the coilover that came off the stock assembly. Should I have used the washer in the middle in the top pic?

NOTE TO SELF - Print out instructions because laptop is not going to last during the install.

Top pic is the passenger side with the coilover. The driver side is still with the OE parts.

Not sure what instructions you are using but these may help.

http://www.planetlsx.com/tech/How_To..._Camaro_SS/143

As for removing the front sway, loosen your motor mount bolts till the nuts only have a few threads left. Place a wood block under your oil pan and jack the motor up. That should give enough clearance to get the bar out.

Looks like you mounted the upper spring mount (Rubber) upside down.

First, check out my install tips for removing the front sway bar. You don't need to cut anything, but you do need patience and some grunt work.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123818

Second, your strut tower mounts should not stick out like that. You either reassembled things wrong or forgot to take out the OEM plastic bushing. Re-check your coilover install instructions.

Third, get some sleep.

Good Luck.

The top rubber mount is on upside down. Also i dont believe that I had that middle washer. Mine went in this order, spring, BC washer, dust boot, BC pillow mount, OEM rubber bearing, upper retaining washer, upper retaining nut. Then once it gets onto the car i put in the top retainer and lock nut.

Let me say one thing. This is the reason why I always start a project early in the morning. Murphy's law is a bitch. Trust me. I've been where you've been and it sucks.

Great info. I will try to take off the bushings first. If I can't get them off - I will lift the motor a little.

And wow to the bushing being upside down.

I installed springs on a Porsche 944 overnight during a rain storm, desperation I guess.

Kind of wanted out the way to enjoy my Sunday. Ha..should have started early today. Got the fronts on. Will hit the back tomorrow afternoon. About to at least get the front sway. Removed.

After this install you'll feel like a pro if you have to do it over again.
