Question What's the size of the camaro ss exhaust pipes?

I want to put an aftermarket exhaust but if the only difference is the stainless steel then that's just not necessary

I'm pretty sure it is 2 1/2" Exhaust system underneath?

I've moved the thread to the exhaust/V8 section. You may get better answers here with the mechani-geeks.

I just did a muffler delete on my SS and I love how it sounds. Stock is 2.5" OD. I'm not sold that the aftermarket stuff is worth it either. I do believe a set of headers is worth the money.

The biggest advantages to adding an aftermarket exhaust would be sound, they are lighter and anything looks better then the factory mufflers. Some after market systems such as MBRP and Stainless Works come in 3" but even then you won't be gaining any horsepower. We carry both of those systems and discount them for Camaro5 guys very deeply if you're interested.

How much does it cost to do a muffler delete? I think that is the best idea so far. I would love to get a borla exhaust but i think there crazy for that price.

It only cost me around $50. But I also have my own welder and some spare 2.5" bends laying around. I can't imagine a muffler shop charging more than $150 for the job. It's 2 approx. 18" straight sections of pipe, two 45* bends, two band clamps, the factory exhaust tips, and a couple exhaust hangers, and voila.

I'm sure someone sells a muffler delete axleback. Just have to look around.

You can get mandrel bends online. I get mine from summitracing.com or mandrelbendingsolutions.com. Do you have your own welder?

Any good exhaust shop can bend pipe for a lot cheaper than buying a muffler delete. In Ohio theres Rainbow Muffler and they bend pipe for any car. They dont even have stock exhausts in their inventory. They charged me $65 for the delete.
