how much rwhp to outrun zr1?
How much rwhp will it take for my camaro to outrun a zr1 from a 30 roll? I have 573 rwhp and 596rwtq.

Your camaro with a supercharger is about 4k. You would need at least 70 more rwhp than the zr-1 for it to be a good race just as a quick guess. I think they put down about 530rwhp stock. I am guessing you would need about 600rwhp for it to be interesting. About ~650 to "outrun" it.

Not only do you need about as much rwhp because of the ZR1's weight, you will also need ALOT of traction to put all that power to the ground or else he will just walk you. Even from a roll of any kind you still need to have some great tires that will grip like a tiger and a good suspension setup to help it all work in unison.
Whatever tires comes on the Z06 Centennial editions wouldn't be a bad idea, but I don' think the tread life last very long though.

Well, I'm definitely going to need some better tires, but I'm done modding for now. So, I'm just gonna line up and see what happens.

I know 616 RWHP and a good set of Mickey Thompson D/R will do it, but it will be close if both can drive.

After you get that 650 rwhp, plan on forging everything under the hood, new tranny, driveshaft, dif, wheels, tires, suspension, etc... Strip the interior out and put a carbon fiber body on... And find an 80 lb driver.

I don't get it, what are you saying???
Just kidding and I was simply trying to be a bit facetious with all the suggested mods. I'm with you! You could leave the seats in using a titanium roll bar. ![]() Could even let MikeOD drive!

That's ^ probably most important. All the power in the world, is useless without the tires to lay it down.

i have seen the zr1 run 12s in the 1/4 mile because of traction issues but if that zr1 grips about 590-610 rwhp considering you have traction as well

I find it hard to believe you have 573 rear wheel Hp,but if you did ,Well the ZR1 nets out at 638 that equates to about 540-550 Rear wheel HP with a weight difference of about 700 pounds you need at least 90 additional HP.

573 rwhp is easily attainable if he's supercharged... which he must be. To the OP, I'm sorry but you're losing if you run to 160. I had a C6, sold it for the Camaro. One thing I miss about the C6 is the stability at high speeds. You could cruise at 130 and the car would crouch down and feel right at home. Now a Camaro at 130... You'll be backing off quick, the body shape isn't meant for those speeds. Can it, sure but you're comparing a wedge to a block. Give it up and secumb to the fact your buddy with the ZR1 has a WAY faster car... period! Camaro disadvantages: Hp Tq Gearing Weight Suspension Tires Aerodynamics ZR1 disadvantages The ZR1 badge on the back is ugly and looks like an afterthought... get familiar with that badge, it's all you're going to see. |

I have to agree ,even my C-5 feels comfortable at 160 MPh which I ran on a road track in Savannah, and the peddle had room for more.

C5 is no slouch at all, it is a quick car... 350 hp and so light, I had a C5 before the C6 and I really liked it. My C6 was only an LS2 so it only had 50 more hp.
