Help! Question about Cats

OK. I have the following...

KN Cold Air Intake
Borla Atak Catback Exhaust

I just ordered SOLO hi-flow cats

Not an expert but I know by doing Solo Cats I am limited to shorty headers. So my questions are:

1) Would there be any additional HP gains by going to Shorties? Or would I just be adding more noise?

2) Everything I have read about Solo cats is that it should not throw a cel light and does not require a tune. If I add shorties I will need a tune. True?

3) And if I needed said tune would be needed would buying a Diablo or SCT tuner take care of the "Tuning" I would need to take the CEL off?

Thank you!

First hand experience here! I had Solo high flows and loved them. I also had Doug Thorley shorties along with the cats and there were NO issues! You don't need to tune with shorties with or without high flow cats because the forward O2 sensor is still in the same place. The Solo's will not throw a CEL either so go for it and enjoy! Oh, and the shorty headers will do NOTHING for performance but look really good, FWIW!

I kind of assumed that shorties would not add much for Horse Power. Should I expect the 20 hp gain that solo claims? Good to hear that I would not need a tune though.

Yes 20 HP is reasonable! The cats are where all the restriction is in the exhaust system! I felt a big difference when I put mine on!

The manufacturer claims HP gains but I like them for their looks, strength and I think it does run slightly better!

Don't believe manufacturers claims of HP gains, especially with shorties!
