Not impressed with the 2012 Camaro owners manual

Took delivery of my 2012 Camaro today..yipee...I know it's just nit picking because the car is awesome but I think the manual could have come in a nice leather binder or something not a ziploc baggie my 9yr old takes to school for lunch
Both of my Hyundais came with a leather bind and like 5 other books for the tires, a place to keep repair records, a mini manual, a notepad and a pen..etc..etc...

Yeah that does kinda stink. My 2007 Mazda has a nice zippered binder like thing with embroidered Mazda logo on it! Come on, GM...

The car itself is so awesome we HAVE to nitpick to find faults.

Agreed and I too came from a 2011 Sonata, so maybe we were spoiled by their glove compartment contents. Thankfully, that's about all I miss from my Sonata.

A leatherette binder would indeed be nice --

the problem is that each person has thoughts about what we should make 'standard content' - and most of these aren't the same......

......and when you start adding the content up, the cost of the car goes up as well......

What we've tried to do is to offer the best bang for the buck out there in terms of performance, handling, standard features, and of course -- head-turning-style that gives you the 'pride of ownership'--

So as much as some would love a leatherette binder for the owners manual, I suspect that there are many more that would say "......for the extra dollars in cost, I'd rather have *insert feature here*...."

(.....and no, we don't need another poll.......)

(by the way - the reason for the plastic bag is to keep all of the manuals together so that they're put into your Camaro along the assembly line and that you are assured that you got each one......)

There are a multitude of them available online from various vendors, or go and buy one and have a shop do the embroidery... then you have one as custom and unique as your car ends up being...

Exactly, I didn't order an SS camaro to get a leather binder. I ordered it because of the hp/$ ratio.....and thats what I want GM to focus on. Bang for the buck

who needs the manual anyway when you got Cam5. Throw that sucker in the glovebox and forget about it. use on-star for all else.

Hey, I was gonna say the same thing! I think this is why the car seems so affordable with what you do get.

I see and agree with both sides. I have also bought 3 new Hyundai's in my life and loved everyone of them. Yes, their binders were all high end. So was the plethera of accessories Hyundai has sent me over the years at no cost to me, free auto show tickets, coozies, blankets, pens, paper, calculator, highlighters, markers, key chains etc...... I say if hyundai can afford this type of customer recognition and appreciation with reasonable car prices than GM can too........I am ever so glad though my SS has the looks, handling and HP it does at the cost I paid.

******by the way, since the first time I put the pedal to the metal in my Camaro I have totally forgotten about the Hyundai's!

while it's a $1 part for a vinyl binder. Fbodfather is right, I'd rather get more bang for the buck in things that I use more often such as the leather shifter, etc... I look at the manual about once a year out of boredom.

I agree with you 100%

I took delivery this past Saturday and I also took a look at the baggie and wondered the EXACT same thing. I still have my '93 Z 28 and the leatherette binder has been keeping the manual intact all of these years. At first I thought the dealer may have forgotten to give one to me, but now I know we just get the ziploc plastic bag! I guess GM wants us to think "recycle" so that if we ever need the plastic bag, we'll have one available in our glove compartment! (could come in handy for many uses - trash, motion sickness, and the like).

I love my car but not impressed with the visors. Moved the driver's side one to the left the other morning to try and block out the sun and it was just like having a decoration on the top of my window. Did absolutely nothing. Did not even have an extension. Sun blocking capability: ZERO.

Yea when I got the 2010, I told the guy "Is this for real?" He was gonna send me a fruit basket, I told him "Forget the fruit basket bro, I will remember you and your dealership more fondly if you can hook me up with a badass binder for the manual"

Sent me a nice leather one
