Thank you for your past service and also for rescuing Old Glory. Some folks just don't get it - it's so much more than a piece of cloth!

The only time burning a flag is appropriate:

"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning"

Sadly most people don't know proper flag etiquette, FYI for anyone who doesn't know you can always take an old flag to any Americam Leigion and they will properly and repectfully dispose of it for you

Thats how we did it in my old boy scout troop. Then while the flag is burning you have a group of people singing the national anthem.

It's all about respect. Some people don't get it. I also hate to see flags being flown that are in very bad shape. I think it's also disrespectful. Someone posted awhile back proper flag etiquette. I learned a lot of things I didn't know. Maybe it should be posted again.
Thanks for your service to all that have and do service to keep us all safe.

Good god.

I can't believe someone is that stupid / disrespectful to their country's flag.

What makes it worse. Is that it is local to me..

My dad was in the Army, so this bothers me as well.

Glad you pulled it out and will get it to the VFW so they can properly retire the flag.

People who do this to the flag should be tossed in the dumpster themselves!

I don't know about everyone else, but having served in the Armed Forces I think about those who serve every time I see Old Glory waving. To see our nation's flag lying in a heap of garbage is a a bit disconcerting and disrespectful to our nation and those that serve. If you have a flag that needs to be disposed of, please do it properly ( take it to your local VFW, American Legion or Boy Scout Troop).
Thank you for your past service and THANK YOU for doing the right thing.

I get it, but it doesn't really matter to me where it's made it's still an America flag, but made in China. An American Flag, wherever it's made is still an American Flag.

Hold on here fellahs, did ya' ever consider that Old Glory may be serving a useful purpose even in extremis. Maybe it's a shroud covering the disposal of a less than salubrious mother-in-law. One can't just heave the old bitch inta' the dumpster without some sorta' covering...

This is sad to see. Another thing that makes me angry is during the pledge everyday at school, some kids do not stand.
Also in my "great" town, a dealership is trying to put up the largest flag in ohio, and got denied, but it has been taken to a higher authority.
