LA Times Article On the 2010 Camaro SS

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-f...5412852.column

I thought it was an interesting read. I need to go hide it from my mother, so that she does not thow a fit when she finds out how fast it is.

What are a redneck's last words?

"Hey, y'all, watch this!"

--Think that was him after he was dusted by a Camaro SS while driving/reviewing the new Mustang.

That's pretty funny, I bet he drives a Prius.

I love how he falls back on all the bad steriotypes, personally I don't drink beer, I keep my hair in a high & tight, I have plenty of tattoos but no barbed wire, I don't smoke, I can afford my own cable thank you very much, don't have room for the stuffed deer heads ( I would have to remove a big screen lcd or three, and skittles are much larger and more colorful than birth control pills , thank you ! Whew .... did I get them all ?

I just hate that all of these Ca. jouralists make it seem like everyone in Ca. is a leftwing tree hugging bunny lover ! Don't get me wrong, I'm not out to destroy the enviroment, but for the love of Pete ! I want a real car !!!! So until GM makes the Converj I will have to settle for the Camaro to get my kicks ! : )

i thought it was a humorous article. Several times he made me think "lol hes right".

Quote:
Indeed, the SS zips down the speedway on pace with the Subaru WRX STi. The difference: The Subie sounds like an RC airplane and the Camaro sounds like a gasoline-powered Gatling gun.

I don't think he's bashing Camaros or their owners...just stating facts that started the stereotype. Come on guys...being a past Camaro owner myself ('85 Z28 with mullet waving T-tops!) I know that there is some truth behind what he says.

HOWEVER...things have changed.

I particularly loved this line:
"This detuned version of the Corvette LS3 engine produces 420 pound-feet of torque at 4,600 rpm, which -- channeled through the Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission -- is quite capable of making an evil stinking unholy mess of the rear 20-inch Pirelli P-Zero radials."

I read this article twice and to me he sounds like he became or always was a tree hugging liberal. If thats his views good for him I guess. If I was a journalist i would write a counter article... but I'm not.

Put him in one of those new GM 2 wheel PUMA's and then get a Camaro SS going 60 MPH to hit it head on. Nuff said...

There's no way that a Subaru WRX STi equals an SS in the 1/4 mile, is there?

At least I hope not because I just wrote the guy an email telling him that, while otherwise being respectful and saying that I enjoyed the article.

And I did enjoy the review. The crack about the state tree of North Carolina being a Camaro wrapped around a telephone pole is classic!

My biggest fear about owning the car will be that the hair on the back of my head will start to grow faster than the front...

He wrote a funny article by poking at stereotypes. Don't get angry with him, make fun of him because lacks the creativity to come up with his own material and thus falls back of literary crutches. It's not his opinions or attitude that need improvement...it's his writing skills.

The STI is not a drag car and is the top end WRX. It runs about 13.5s, but starting price is $35K, considerably more than the camaro.
