the drone hurts my wifes ears...

And it is becoming annoying to me lately now that I have a cam. I am tempted to put the factory cat back back on my car since it is sitting in the back yard ready to go. Any other ideas.

I really love the way my car sounds but cruising up a hill can get really loud.

Edit: Does anyone have a video of a car with headers highflow cats and the factory exhaust?

Magnaflow 3" cans really quiet the noise down. Much quieter then flows. You could also add bullet mufflers inline with your current catback.

The factory exhaust will sounds great with LT headers and high flow cats, and eliminates the drone, Your wife will love you again LOL.

Easy fix. Every time she complains about the drone, play an audio tape of her talking and tell her, "Now you know how I feel!"

Yes the stock exhaust is very free flowing.

Not so much. The stock mufflers are basically hollow. The hemiholz mod is a capped pipe that comes off of the exhaust, it's where sound goes to die.

I have straight pipes with headers/cam. I used R-BLOX SOUND DEADENER on eBay and put it in the entire trunk area including the battery well and cover. Keeps the sound on the outside.

Look for the pictures of the cutaways of the stock LS3 mufflers...they are basically sheet metal cans surrounding straight through pipe with Helmholtz resonators inside...which is why they flow so dam well.

My car just sounds way too wicked with the Kooks 1.875's, high flows, and Dynomax Bullet 3" catback for me to ever go back though.

You won't loose any power with the stock catback on there again. We carry several drone free options if you're interested.

+1 No drone here with the stock catback and great performance.

But at high rpm there is a slapping kind of sound. The BFE 3" cats on my LS3 are longer than most cats which required cutting the stock exhaust. I have not heard this sound on other LS3s.

I am thinking of trying the "Street" MagnaFlow axle back, or the Borla Touring. Both no drone rated with LTs.

theres something called a radio mod. Its awesome. All you have to do is turn the left knob (volume) clockwise, and the sound goes up, then magically your drone is gone.

I have stock Cat Back with LTs and High Flow Cats. Agree - sound at high rpm isn't pleasant. Its a bit loud at cold startup, then quiets down when warm in normal driving. No drone. I am also looking to do something to get more of a classic V8 sound but don't want to risk drone.
