Wave- trac trashed 1st time at the track

I talked to Xtreme Innovations today about the white 2010Camaro with straight axle conversion and Craig said the 1st time they went to the track they broke the wave-trac and bent the 1/2 wheel studs. Good thing is has a lifetime warrenty. Didnt even have slicks on it.

The warranty is why I spent the extra money to put one in my 9". Otherwise I would have just put a spool in it. Any more details other than bent wheel studs and a trashed diff? What kinda power? Raceweight?

Would be nice to have all the details instead of Craig said we trashed the diff and bent some wheelstuds. I'm not saying its impossible to break a wavetrac. But something other than a high powered launch may be at work here. What did the axles look like? Pics of said carnage would be great

What is price on this conversion? Can you run a 15" rim in the rear with it! Any pics or details?

Oh trust me, I definitely know all about the $$$ it cost to get stuff done right and Craig at Xtreme Innovations is a true craftsman and has skills like no other. I cant say it enough, when people see my cage, it is pure amazement and everyones first comment is "its a work of art". Anyone who has ever seen Craigs work knows what I am talking about. I would love to do the solid 9" but at this time it just isnt worth extra money from the bulletproof 9" IRS I have now. Its amazing how far IRS has come in terms of drag racing and how fast these cars are running with IRS. I will be at Indy for the LSX Shootout and I think the car that Craig did the solid 9" will also be there. I know Craig himself will also be there as he is working with me on setting up my suspension as he also hooked me up for suspenion as well.

If you just buy the kit and do the install yourself it would be almost half the cost.

You do realize that a solid axle 9" is not a kit, right? The reason it is so expensive is you have to cut the back half of the car out and fab everything by hand to make it fit and function. I have the standard 9" kit for the IRS but a solid 9" is a HUGE undertaking.

I sent him an email, he said about 9k for a solid 9" kit... and yes around 20k installed! So I do believe its allot of work to install, I do most my own work but I dont think I would try this! Sounds like you would need a pro chassis guy for some thing like this :( I would need a loan for this setup I am sure its worth every penny...

I guess when you work on cars all the time it doesnt seem to be a big deal, it is only metal. All the wheel tubs, frame rails and inner structure are not even touched, the only metal that is reworked is between the rear frame rails to make room for the extra height for the travel of the housing.

What kind of suspension? 4 link or Ladderbar? When I think live axle conversion I think 4 link.

Craig is the best...so I trust his judgement.

Regardless of the WaveTrac I'd like to know how the wheel studs bent. That is a feat in its own right.

I know right? I've seen output shafts and 35 spline axles twisted with no damage to the wheelstuds before lol.

The wheel studs being bent had Craig questioning the owner if they had the rims tight (yes) or if they had any major wheel hop and they said (no). They were only 1/2"studs , Craig said the owner put a spool in and 5/8 studs and went back to the track and no issuses , now learning how to shift fast enough is the problem with a stock 6 speed.
